Since we can talk about anything in this board i was wondering what people thought of the sudden surge in horror movies? In the last few movies i've seen the remake of The Hills Have Eyes and The Hostel is still doing the rounds. Slither is another that should be out soon, although i believe it is comedy horror like Eight Legged Freaks was. Plus there's Silent Hill, etc
I've not yet seen hostel but i have been given a copy to watch at home. (naughty i know) i just hope it's better than his last movie, Cabin Fever. I've only ever been tempted to walk out of two movies through complete boredom, one was the Blair Witch Project (I slept through it!) and the other was Cabin Fever.

Done! Woo, I'm getting the hang of this whole admin thing. I like that horror movies are making such a big comeback these last few years, and I'm particularly looking forward to seeing "Slither". It's also good that so many independent horror movies are being put out, by people who fund, promote, and distribute them themselves over the internet. The web makes all things possible!

The trailer for slither looked really funny, hope there's lots of gore! I suspect it will be grisly enough with some dark humor thrown in. At least, that's what I'm hoping for. I for one am stoked about the current horror trends. Especially the way our friend the werewolf has yet to fall out of vogue. Noel correctly identified the cycle of the werewolf movie in the past (roughly every 20 years, werewolves show up in movies, but don't last too long). 1999 saw Dog Soldiers and Ginger Snaps, both breaking new ground, and I'm very pleased to see the steady stream since then doesn't show any signs of tapering off too soon! ;D

I got to see 'Slither' last weekend (along with 'Silent Hill'). Loved 'Slither'. 'Silent Hill' was cool in the "freaky-deaky" horror department, but 'Slither' was cool in the loads of fun, all out gore and humor (think a hardcore 'Tremors' and you're close) horror dept. Another DVD for the list.

Cool!
I was supposed to see Silent Hill last week but wasn't feeling well enough to go. I am looking forward to Sliver, i read a review in one of the papers that said it was very gory! Excellent, can't wait. I've still to see Hostel, but i'm told that other than lots of sex nothing happens for the first 30 minutes. A bit like Wolf Creek, i was so bored for the majority of the movie and no where near as freaked out by the violence as people told me i would be.
