Yes, his batman movie was much better than begins. That statement could be considered blasphemy in some circles.

yes. in the circles where they think its fine to take a classic character with like 40 years of history and rape him and add ninjas.
Im not saying i hate begins or anything. i just have something against frank millers vision of batman.

Well I love both Frank Millers and Adam Wests version of Batman better than Batman Begins. The thing which makes Btaman so damn great is that everybody can get him on another level. Some get the emotional conflict. Some dig the fiendish villains. Some enjoy the classic storylines. Some love the detective work.
Unlike Superman, who just flies ans has a cool cape, Batman is a highly developed character who has and is changing every decade, it's just a matter of preferance.
Me, I grew up watching reruns of the classic 1966 show, and I love the detectivre angel, the camp and ofcourse the fab villains!
I dont blame anybody for not liking Adam, but I love every frame of it ;D
PS Love Superman anyway (Go Chris Reeves! RIP)

It's good to hear Mr. Burton is loved by so many He should have me "Van Helsing" , it would have bene a damn cool and accurate tribute to the classics. We would have had a Danny Elfman score And maybe even Christopher Lee as Dracula ;D

Im not saying i hate begins or anything. i just have something against frank millers vision of batman. 1) What does Batman Begins have to do with Frank Miller? 2) If we're talking rape, the Batman TV series completely changed the dark detective character of Batman into a campy, Shatner-esque goof. Considering Bob Kane's original vision for Batman, the dark detective character is more true to form, which is why most people liked the first Batman movie, but hated the sequels on a scale in sync with the added cartoonish qualities. 3) Batman is well-versed in a number of martial arts. How did he train in them, unless he did so with the help of nijas. Plus, the character of Ra's Al Ghul has always had ninja henchmen.

1: batman begins is based on frank millers version of batman. Just like all other batman things since he made his batman.
2: yes i know it was campy. but thats about all they changed. besides. when was campy = bad? And besides. if it was as dark and violent as the first comics it would be cencored to hell.
3: I dont remember reading anything about martial arts in the old 40s batman comics. I bet that is just something they made up later to explain how he does what he does.

Batman Begins certainly ISN'T based on Dark Knight Returns That out of the way, lets get back to the sixties: Anybody who has read the classic comics knows that since the appearance of Robin, the magazine has become essentially camp. People forget that these comic books were targeted at children in the beginning, something which didnt change until the seventies, and the origional show reflects the cool innocence of the early comics, classic serial, and the naive way-of-life in those days. And, as mentioned earlier, the world of Batman has something for everyone, from the darkest homicide cases, to the weirdest adventures in space...it is the main reason he is still one of the biggest up there and why the origional "Batman" and "Detective Comics" magazines are the ONLY in the DC stable never to have been out of print. and then again, you don't have to like West's Batman But i sure do, and Im damn prud to say I grew with Adam West as Batman on the telly! ;D reruns that is

We're gonna have to agree to disagree on this. The Batman from Batman: The Animated Series is my Batman, and Batman Begins best translates that Batman to the movie screen. Well, the live action movie screen...Mask of the Phantasm was in theaters, too.
I don't know why I care. I hate DC comics now, and Batman is in DC. I blame Infinite Crisis and Smallville.
And I like ninjas. Sometimes.

you cant hate a whole company just like that. i admit myself that if someone asks me what comics i read i wouldnt say dc. but thats more because im not familiar with their stories and stuff. if there is a good mini-series then ill read it. as long as it isnt to conected with the main storyline. because then i would have to read hundreds of issues to understand anything(like i did with marvel in my younger days) anyways. i thought this thread was about movies, not batman (btw, i loved the animated batman to )

We know I dig Paul Naschy, Weredog likes good ol' Lon And I like...a cartoon character that hasn't appeared on TV yet Seriously, there aren't any recurring werewolf actors besides Chaney Jr. and Naschy. I guess the guy that played Michael in the Underworld films has appeared as that character twice, even though he's more of a vampire/werewolf hybrid thing. He kicks major butt, though.
