To quote the Great Orson Welles: To the Movie, to good Movies, to every possible kind....
I try to pick up something from every genre and every era, although most of my favorites are Cult movies, mostly classic horro ans sci-fi.
I Love the classic Universal Horrors, Hammer films and most old school movies with either a bit of class, or to little class I can enjoy (and ofcourse the origional Star Wars trilogy).
I also enjoy a good comedy, Rowan Atkinson, Louis de Funes, that sort of thing...
My favortie director is Tim Burton, others that inspire and influence me in a mayor way are Paul Naschy (duhh) and Charles Chaplin.
my favorite actresses are Diana Rigg and Julia Stiles
I just love movies, period. I consider myself a future film student, and I am already active in some local Television work (damn cool ;D)

I like movies that don't suck. I have a tendency to not like - or just not want to see - movies that everyone praises or hypes. For instance, I don't like so-called mideivel (sp?) "epics," like Troy and Kingdom of Heaven. The Lord of the Rings trilogy I can stand, but I doubt I'll ever watch the first two in their entirety again.
My current favorite movie of all is Frank Miller's Sin City. It takes a different approach to adapting a comic book into a movie by actually making the movie almost like a comic book. Plus, the acting rules. I'm looking forward to 300.
I like almost anything Bruce Campbell is in (though I refuse to see Sky High). I don't care much for Evil Dead, but I love Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness. I also liked Waxwork II: Lost in Time because he had a cameo. Heck, I enjoyed The Ice Rink, a romantic comedy with no plot made in France, just because he was in it.
I really liked The Departed, Lucky # Sleven and the Saw movies for their intricate plots. I liked The Protector for the action sequences.
I like a lot of stuff. I go see romantic comedies with my friend, because neither of us have girlfriends!
One last thing...have any of you seen the German film Knocking on Heaven's Door?

Lord of the Rings was great, although I agree it certainly isn't Star Wars.
And although I liked "Sin City" I thought it was to much CGI and to little actual comic atmosphere. Hopefully one day they will do "The Dark Knight Returns"

Hopefully one day they will do "The Dark Knight Returns" I'm sick of Star Wars, too. I like the originals all right, but the prequels were shoved down my throat after the first one, and the first one just sucked. IMO. Dark Knight Returns was decent, but I hated the sequel. I also didn't like how the series villified Superman.

Star Wars episode I....bad. I kind of like the second one (mainly because of Christopher Lee) although I ofcourse shouldn't. As far as Revenge of the Sith is concerned...SO COOL, I don't care what they say...I loved it. Saw it twice on the big screen. And still...they don't make em like they used to... Dark Knight wasnt decent, It was SO good. I loved every page, and the artistic, emotional and political input. The sequel I havent read, but I havent heard a lot of good. I might check it out, since Dark Knight Returns is the only novel/comic/thing with pages I finished in a maater of hours...couldnt put it down! but dont worry, the DVD Box Sets "The Dalek Collection" and "Louise de Funes Collection Nr 1" are higher on my list right now

They killed Christopher Lee at the beginning! I was sad for the rest of the movie, while all my friends were praising it. Cool climactic fight scene, though. But it's Star Wars, so the mainstream tint dulled it for me. I liked the story in DKR all right, especially the Joker scenes. But they made Superman a sell-out, and that made me mad as a Superman fan. Of course, now I guess I don't care, since I hate DC for changing their backstories so often. I just read Marvel these days. Do they not have graphic novels in libraries in Holland? That's where I got DKN and the sequel. I didn't like it because of how they put the girl Robin in a bad Catwoman outfit.

I have to agree on the mayor mistake on killing off Lee is scene numero uno! The way he jumped from the stairs was also akward, I mean....if you got Chris Lee in your flick, make him walk down some stairs, nobody decents stairs like Christopher Lee The library in my town is pretty big, but they A. have a very limited comic department and B. recently had a massive make over making it a computer central rather than a library. On the other hand, my town ('s-HertogenBosch) has THE best comic book store in the country, Sylvester Strips..no kidding, they have their own magazine, and own right to some of the better comic characters appearing around here...I haven't been buying comic books a lot recently however, more DVDs. I'm more into Batman that comic books themselves actually

I live close to one comic book store, but it's a very friendly, accomodating one. There are two or three in surrounding cities, only one has a good selection of trades. I have been to the biggest comic book store in the States, Mile High Comics, in Denver, Colorado. That was something.
I thought of another subject that's somewhat related to the original topic...My opinions on movies based on comic books:
LIVE ACTION Batman - Good Batman Returns - Decent Batman Forever - Bad Batman & Robin - Worse Batman Begins - Great Batman The Movie (Adam West) - Silly Captain America - Good (from what little I remember) Daredevil - Bad Fantastic Four - Good Hulk - Good League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - Good Spawn - Bad Spiderman (The really old one) - Bad Spider-Man - Great Spider-Man 2 - Great Superman - Great Superman II - Good Superman III - Decent Superman IV - Bad X-Men - Decent X-2: X-Men United - Bad
ANIMATED Batman: Mask of the Phantasm - Great Batman: Sub-Zero - Decent Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman - Decent Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker - Great
These are just the ones I've seen, of course. I'll probably add some I forgot about later.
