Just finished watching "Dracula 72" that arrived in the mail today! Loved every minute of it. It's one of those films that you can't seem to read anything good about, but turns out to be so cool. Now I knew it would be cool because A. It's Dracula B. It's Chris L and big Pete C. It's Hammer ;D Incase you missed the details, it's one of the last Hammer Dracula movies starring Christopher Lee, in which he is ressurected in 1972 and chases hippy chicks among which Jessica Van Hesling, grand daughter of Van Helsing Jr, grand son of Van Helsing Sr. Follow it so far? I loved the picture, really did. It was like "Taste the blood of Dracula" in many respects, and that ones one of my absolute faves. Next up....Quatermass! The origional Hammer "Quatermass Xperiment" was the other film I ordered, can't wait

Why is it that hippies and horror go together so well?

Frankly anything with the late, great, Peter C in it deserves praise.
It's not my favourite of the hammer movies but it's enjoyable none the less.
Bring back Hammer Horror!

Peter Cushing is THE Van Helsing, I think it's his best role

Yeah, nothing like watching a hippie chick running and screaming! Especially when you know for a fact she doesn't stand a chance!

This is my guilty pleasure of the Hammer Dracula Series. Not my cup of blood, er, tea. The juxtaposition of a 19th century Dracula with hippie era characters did not work that well for me. Poor Drac stays cooped up in that abbey or whatever it was and never really contacts the (then) modern world as I might have expected from the title. Cushing and Lee are on form as usual but Lee does not get to do all that much. It did come up with yet another way of killing Dracula though. Or two ways, counting the prologue.

Johnny Alucard was quite pompous and annoying.
Jessica's BF Bob was dumb as a Brick.
The Stone Ground's Alligator Man is a nice Bop though.
