An independant film called Feast.
It's a horror/comedy, about a group of people that end up stranded in a dinner in the middle of the desert, whilst a group of fleash eating monsters - dressed up in the skins and bones of animals go round and eat them.
Pretty basic plot, but the effects are decent, and the comedy is good. - they introduce characters by doing a freeze frame and popping up a bio of them - ie The Boy, Probably going to live to the end of the film, after all what kind of film would kill a child.
Not a film to take serious, but one that I think is worth watching if you have the right kind of sense of humour.

Cool. I've seen it around the used DVD bins but hadn't heard anything about it. Have to look into it.

Yes it's gory and even icky in places.
It's low budget, but much better effects than I imagined it was going to be.

They are looking to make a sequal to this film. And possible a 3rd one making it a triology.
the sequal apparent has the survivors from the first one, making their way to a town. The monsters follow them.

Saw this awhile back...it is very gory & bloody, but it's also quite fun. Good humor in a horror movie can go a long way sometimes! You never really get to see the "monsters", but the story will explain why. It's a great popcorn & a brew movie!!!

Are you refering to the sequal? which I thought wasn't made yet?
If you talking about the original, I'm a bit confused, as the version I saw, the monsters were clearly visible, and it never explained anything about them.

Maybe my mind is wandering (it often does!) but I recall that the Baddies in the movie just being in the skins & bones (as you mentioned) and you never got to find out what was really behind the masks so to speak. Refresh my mind if the true nature of the Baddies was revealed, otherwise I'm gonna have to go rent the thing again! I do remember the blood & gore. Was Henry Rollins in this film as well?

At first the monsters were covered by the skins and bones of the things they've killed, as some kind of clothing. But later in the film those clothes are removed and you see what's underneath. Infact the front of the DVD case shows you what one looks like

This movie is the third installment of the HBO series, "Project Greenlight" created by Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Chris Moore. It was a reality show about giving newcombers a chance to make a Hollywood movie.
I watched every episode featuring the making of FEAST. Very, very fun show. You'll learn more about filmmaking by watching this series as you'll get in four years of film school.
All three Project Greenlights are available on DVD.
