MIGHT CONTAIN MILD SPOILERSWell i finally saw this last night at the flicks. I conned my mother into going with me (she hates the simpsons) as my best mate is totally loved up at the moment and not bothered about going places with me! Young love eh?
Anyway there were very few people in the cinema and only a couple of young kids and embarrassingly i seemed to be the only one laughing most of the time! But i really enoyed it and there were some great scenes, not least of which involed Homer's Spiderpig routine and seeing Bart's penis! Even my mam laughed at bits of it!
However i think if your not a Simpson's fan this movie isn't going to make you one. Has anyone else seen it?
Despite my earlier protestations about paying to see an 80min tv episode, I did end up going with some friends on Sunday night. The cinema was about half full with people of all ages and they all seemed to really enjoy it.
It was very funny - a lot funnier than some of the recent tv episodes. Perfectly timed gags come thick and fast and are aimed at many targets from religion to the US Government, to environmentalists/campaigners/rock stars and to the audience itself for actually paying to see something they can watch for free on tv.
I have to say that Spider-Pig is a work of comedy gold. I don't know why it's funny, it just is. A combination of the absurd and of Homer's stupidity - "...can he swing from a thread? No he can't, he's a pig"
I also saw Transformers the other week, which was great eye candy (and I don't just mean Megan Fox) with some of the best FX I've ever seen.
Michael Bay directs it just as you'd imagine he would, but it is actually a lot funnier than I thought it would be and Shia LaBeouf is a very good lead.
This film, though, would live or die by the quality of the giant robot carnage it creates and there is tons of it - almost too much for the eyeballs to take in in one viewing.
Not a great film by any means, but I was highly entertained for 2hrs 20 mins.
