This is a Sci-Fi mini series - erm, that is made by the Sci-Fi channel, not a sci-fi series. Right, now that's explained . . . Tin Man looks to be a modern remake of the Wizard of Oz. The clips I've seen look pretty good - anything that shows a bloke unzipping his head and opening it like a bag to show that he's got no brain gets a thumbs up from me!! Looks like it came out last year, I'm guessing in america only though. The Sci-Fi channel over here in the UK is advertising it as coming soon. The official website is: www.scifi.com/tinman/I've already ordered it on region 1 dvd, as I liked the trailer so much.

Funy you should mention this. I was going to post and ask if anyone had seen it, cos i'd seen a very brief trailer and thought i saw Alan Cummings in it. I love Alan Cummings! He's the one with the zip in his head.

Yeah, I like him as a comedy actor. And as he's doing the scarecrow he'll have plenty of screen time I'd say.
I wonder if the witch is still going to melt with water. . .

"Tin Man" had been on my radar but I heard mixed things about it. The one reviewer I read who was positive about it also liked the Sci-Fi channel's remake of "Flash Gordon", which isn't a good sign at all.

All i've seen is the trailer for Flash but as soon as i saw him i wanted to belt him one so i figured i wouldn't bother watching it!

Yeah, that flash gordon series is horrible.
Ming is completely wrong. In both looks and attitude! grrrr
And I've seen mixed reviews too, but the trailer sold me on it. I'm getting it from Amazon, costing about £10 including postage, which I thought was reasonable.

I think they were trying to make Flash Gordon a little like Dr Who but after the god awful movie there was never any hope! It's only saving grace, the Queen Soundtrack! Still i think i will give TinMan a go. Just out of interest can someone tell me where i've seen the bloke playing Tin Man before?

Seen part 1 now. The dvd turned up yesterday (which was abotu 2 weeks earlier then I was expecting ) So far I've enjoyed it. It's different enough to the orignal film to make it it's own entity, but with similarities enough to be recognisable. For example they have the main character DG (ie dorethy) working in a diner, who's uniform is the white dress with the blue checked apron and pigtails that dorethy had in the original. They've changed the names of a few places and characters. For example Oz is now known as O.Z. (Outer Zone) and the emerald city looks to have been renamed Central City. The special effects are about what you'd expect for this kind of production. Not amazing, but up to the job. The flying monkeys were good when you saw the first one (a nice blend of monkey and bat), but later when you saw a group of them flying, they were not don't too good. The twister looked good. The best acting so far has been with the Tinman and Glitch (scarecrow). Not sure if I like DG yet, the actress that's playing her seems to only be able to act one character that she does for all the films I've seen her in. The witch is interesting and evil, though she's not green So far I'd say it's worth watching, and I'm happy I bought it.
