Sam Raimi has announced that he will write the script for the remake of his original classic the Evil Dead. Bruce Campbell will produce but not star, however Raimi has said he will not start on the script until he has found a suitable director. Since this is in total post production i would like to recommend Gulliemo Del Toro for director and Nathan Fillion as the new Ash and it's not just because i love Nathan Fillion it's just that i could really imagine him in that role!
On the other hand i see no real reason to remake the film at all. It's a classic! Plus most remakes are a let down!

As Ash NO WAY! Ash needs to be a mature man! Actually there shouldn't be a remake and he should always be played by Bruce Campbell! But i would watch it with Nathan Fillion but no way would i see it with Ashton Kutcher in it. Since i know your a sane person i'm going to take that suggestion as a joke!

Evil Dead is a nearly perfect movie and certainly doesn't need a remake. But then what does? And if there's no Bruce in it then there should be no Ash in it. I woudn't mind if Ashton Kutcher was in it as long as he was decapitated less than 5 minutes in...

I just mentioned him because I'd like to see him reacting to demon zombies. Him and Jack Black.
How about Simon Pegg?

hmmm . . . a Simon Pegg version of evil dead, not a remake, but just their slant on the setting could be rather interesting. He could be a library worker, that has a shipment of books, in which is the book of the dead. . .

That's a good idea; change the setting. I like the library idea.

Well i'd rather they didn't remake it but i agree that a Simon Pegg British make over might be interesting. Instead of a cabin in the woods they could go for a caravan in Bridlington as the place of evil!

I always used to like Bridlington when I was a kid. It was skegness that I disliked and found boring.
Besides should be the one down south where all the old folks go for their holidays, forgot it's name . . . eastborn?

Has anyone seen the re-imagining of the Evil Dead?
Can't believe how old this post is! Took me ages to find it. I took my Mum to the pictures to see this. She seemed the obvious choice given that she introduced me to the magic that was the 1st Evil Dead film when i was a kid.
I thought it was good. Plenty of blood and gore but lacked the charm and humor of the original. There will be a sequel to this and it's also been announced that we will finally be getting an Army Of Darkness 2! Following on from these two films will be a crossover movie featuring Ash and the survivor from the new Evil Dead. Really looking forward to Army Of Darkness 2. Love Bruce Campbell but hope they haven't left it too late for a sequel.
Any thoughts?

Not seen it yet. But I do have it pre-ordered on Blu-ray for it's release on the 14th August.
Just don't know if it'll be the uncut version or the theatre version. I read somewhere that the dvd release was supposed to be the uncut version, but wouldn't put it past them to release the theatre version 1st and than do a special edition in a few months.

I have not seen the remake either yet - but I would definitely go and see a sequel with Bruce Campbell. He's one of those actors who can make a bad film watchable by his mere presence in it.

I agree Noel. Infact I always wanted them to do a Hercules/xena spin off about Attolicus the King of Thieves just because Bruce was the actor playing him.

Bruce Campbell could turn anything into gold. He such an underused actor.
Your probably right Marcus. They'll most likely release an uncut version later on down the line. Possibly when the next EV movie comes out? Oh and when you do get a chance to watch it make sure you watch until the end of the credits. Still lots of goodies listed on the blu-ray in terms of special features.
