I really like it. Could have done without the whole, "drug intervention," but was still really good. The Forest Rape scene was done really well too.

I think, whilst they could have gotten away without the drug intervention story line it added an extra element to distinguish the film from the original. And it also meant the lead character was less likely to be initially believed when the shit started to hit the fan. I've worked with substance users in the past and the stuff they think they see when they are detoxing sounds so frightening!
I'd heard the Forrest rape scene was going to be absolutely horrendous compared with the original, much more violent and much more to see. There was talk of people walking out of the cinema in disgust. Wasn't anywhere near as bad. In fact i thought it was pretty tame, all things considered.
The movie delivered, it had plenty of gore and it wasn't a carbon copy of the original. Having said that my favorite scene came at the end of the credits. If you've not seen it i won't say anymore but make sure you catch it again on DVD/Blu ray

The after the credits scene is definitely groovy. I understand that there was originally going to be a longer scene and that only the last second or so is all that survived. But I cannot describe the deleted scene without giving away too much about the movie.

I enjoyed this film.
I think I'm happy they remade the 1st evil dead rather than the 2nd one. They need to leave the 2nd one alone!
The forest rape scene was tamer than the hype lead me to believe, and I liked that it wasn't just a copy of the scene from the original (ie it wasn't a tree). And, how they made it link in more with the possessions.
Gore-wise was fine, nothing 'too' extreme, but enough to still be entertaining. And the deadites were good.

I agree about Evil Dead 2. It is perfect! Bruce Campbell at his best.

Lordi have done some rather fun music videos. The one you've mentioned is one of my favourites ArcLight, as is the one that won the eurovision:

Reminds me of the "old days" lying in bed after a long day of brain melting computer work, headphones on, lights out, high as anything, listening to Black Sabbath on the radio.
I am glad that this tradition did not die out.

Wonder if they will do Army of Darkness 2?

Don't know. Kinda hope if they do a sequel to the remake, they'll go off on a tangent, rather than remake any of the other films in the evil dead series.

I'd like to see a sequel to Army Of Darkness. Mainly because it would feature Bruce Campbell as Ash.

I'd like to see a sequel to Army Of Darkness. Mainly because it would feature Bruce Campbell as Ash. The ending of Army of Darkness practically begs for a sequel. But it should involve going back in time again or otherwise to some strange setting. Bruce Campbell was great as Autolycus in the wild fantasy world of Xena and in the isolated remote location of the original Evil Dead movies. The movie / not-movie trick of My Name is Bruce also worked fine. However his character in Burn Notice, eccentric as it was, was too limited by the present day real world setting. Evil Dead 2 should never be remade. Only Bruce could pull it off and why should he try to top himself? Anyway that level of athletics might be a bit much for him these days. Especially after all that hard drinking in Burn Notice.

A sequal should pick up the ending where he oversleep and the world is a post holocaust setting full of deadites with a few remaining humans holding out in makeshift forts. Could even have some high-tech elements so that poor old Ash instead of being ahead of his time is actually behind everyone else, sort of the reverse of how it was in the original army of darkness.
Would be funny to see him trying to convince someone else to remember the magic words that he had to try to remember, and having trouble remembering the exact words.

Sprinkle a few in-jokes / references about zombie movies?
