I've run into a few rumurs regarding a talks underway of a AWIL remake as I surfed around the internet, which I thought I'd share. - "John Landis, the once great director of An American Werewolf in London has stated that Hollywood wants to remake his iconic horror movie from 1981, but there is only thing that is stopping them. Landis owns the rights. Landis said at the Horror Hound festival that talks have been ongoing for a few years."
- "As reported by Bloody Disgusting and others, John Landis, director of American Werewolf In London, confirmed at HorrorHound that he would be open to doing a remake of his classic 1980s werewolf film. Landis owns the rights to AWIL, and is apparently 'in talks' with people to resurrect David, Jack and Nurse Price."
And with the wolfman remake done, I wonder how long it will be before talks become deals. It'd be much better if he'd just do a new werewolf film rather then a remake! - that is, if the rumours are true, which I'm not saying they are, or that it'll come to anything if they are. - So no need to panic, nope, no need, none, no panic here, nuh-huh, does anyone else feel dizzy??

How could you top that tranformation scene? God, what if they did it all CGI? Not that i've got a lot against CGI but i've not seen a truely brilliant WW tranformation done with it.
But i'm guessing if the Wolf Man remake does good box office then they'll go with it.

Who cares? This is good news as far as I'm concerned. New werewolf movie on the way, woo hoo! Especially if John Landis directs once more. I mean, yeah, just making a new, original movie would be better, but between this and no other werewolf movie in it's place (as is the case) I'll go with the new werewolf movie directed by John Landis. AWIL is a poor choice for a remake, though. It's lost none of its power. Its scares and humor stand as well today as they ever have, and it's not really dated much at all. Oh well.

They should remake "American Werewolf in Paris," since the first one was so lame. Just give Landis the basic plot and have him run with it. Couldn't be much worse, could it? Besides, remaking a bad movie could lead to it becoming good. Remaking a great movie usually leads to it being worse.

Also seen talk on the internet about them remaking The Howling as well. Though I don't know anything else about that one, or if I did I've forgotten

Whatever. Remake it. I don't really care.
No matter what they do to it, I will always have the original, which cannot be bettered in any shape or form.
I also heard about rumours of The Howling remake. This has been knocking around for ages, but I think the rights thing is a bit tangled. I think Joe Dante is partially involved in rights issues as John Landis is with AWWIL. I don't have a problem at all with a possible Howling remake as I'd quite like to see a closer adaptation of the original book (I don't count Howlling 4 as it is terrible)

The original book was kind of crap. The movie was way better.

I'd never read the book but i have to say it really pees me off when they adapt things but don't do it faithfully. I know there's needs to be some alteration when making the jump from page to screen but if you ask me there's way to much in most things.

I thought I was the only one who didn't like the Howling book. I quite like trashy horror novels but I thought this one was just sleazy and poorly written. It's one of the only cases where I think the film is better than the book.

I know there's needs to be some alteration when making the jump from page to screen but if you ask me there's way to much in most things. I don't mind them changing a story somewhat in changing it from a book to a film. But, they really need to keep the main points and the flavour of the book when they transfer it to film. Which sometimes doesn't happen. - Eragon for example was a horribly bad conversation. The book is SO much better. Sometimes they say they cut this or dropped that when converting to a film, due to keeping it under a certain amount of time. That I don't like. They should make the film as along as it needs to be to tell the story. Not crop the story to fit a fixed time span.

Now i enjoyed Eragon the movie but i saw it without reading the books which probably helped. I loved Prisoner of Azkaban but i hated how much they cut from the scene where Lupin is explaining about the past. The book was excellent and whilst i still think this film has been the best so far it could have been a lot better.

I think I would cry. Honestly. The special effects were outstanding for the day as well as the soundtrack. It would hurt less if they kept John Landis as director and went with a new storyline, or hell a prequel. If they want to remake a werewolf flick they should re-do the Pairs one, I thought the gorilla/wolf werewolves were ugly as sin.
I doubt that will be the case ,since with Hollywood it seems that everything old is new again and how fast can they turn a buck.
I'm also an odd one and loved almost all of the Howling movies, if it's the book by Whitley Strieber ,I think I read it and thought it was trash.

Strieber wrote Wolfen, which was awesome, The Howling was written by Gary Brandner. I think another movie with the American Werewolf name but a different story and characters could be good. American Werewolf in Paris had sort of the right idea, but they just fucked it up. Fucked up a lot. God, how badly they fucked that movie up.

Ah, Strieber wrote Wolfen. It was so long ago that I should probably go back and re-read it then. I don't think I read The Howling, only saw the movies.
I don't think I'd mind another American Werewolf, just not London re-done.
