I'd call it a contest, but I'm not 100% sure that there are prizes. Anyway, I jut thought I'd let my fellow writers* know about deviantART's upcoming literature dealie, in case anyone needs some motivation to write.
To participate, you'll probably have to create an account on the site. Don't worry, it's free, unless you want bonuses and have money to subscribe.
*Heh heh...I called myself a writer. That would require me to actually write sometime.
Do you enjoy reading stories about vampires and werewolves?
Do you enjoy writing those stories, too?
Well, have we got the literature event for you.
Starting September 1st, the month-long event, brought to you by *twilight-apple and her second banana =bekkia, aims to find writers who long to create their own tales of vampires and werewolves. This will be your chance to use that imagination of yours to create something amazing for the literature galleries of deviantArt.
All submissions must be new deviations and must be your own work. We are also putting an emphasis on originality and creativity. Submissions that show completely new ideas and opinions are desired most. We want those creatures hiding in the shadows of your minds, waiting to be put on paper and typed out on keyboards.
There will be 4 weekly contests/topics (because the last week of the month has only 3 days) and one month-long contest. Everyone is welcome to enter, and there is no obligation to enter all 5 contests.
The topics and the corresponding weeks are:
Week 1 (September 1st to 6th): Vampires and Blood or Werewolves and the Moon
Week 2 (September 7th to 13th): Create Your Own Legend
Week 3 (September 14th to 20th): Children’s Literature (or, Those Little Ankle Biters)
Week 4 (September 21st to 27th): Isolation from Humankind or Human Realization
Month-long Topic: Breaking Through the Old Clichés
As Week 4 ends on the 27th, the remaining 3 days of September can be used to fine tune your month-long topic entry.
At the start of every week, a new news topic will be posted, containing a more detailed explanation of week’s contest topic, the event organizer you will be sending the links of your submissions to, the week’s judges, and the week’s prizes.
We will accept all genres of fiction, because as much as some of us wish it, vampires and werewolves are not real. Make sure you submit your piece in the right literature gallery. Miscats (deviations submitted in the incorrect gallery) are annoying for those who work to hard to organize the many literature galleries dA has. Because of our originality rule, we will not be accepting any fan fiction submissions. We want completely new stories, like how vampires control the IRS.
There must be a separation of vampires and werewolves in your submissions. We will not be accepting any submissions that involve both subjects. You are welcome to write a vampire entry and a werewolf entry for each week, but try not to combine the two.
We hope to see you participating all month long in September, and we hope that you will enjoy yourself to the fullest extent possible. Please feel free to tell your friends about this event so we can spread the love for vampires and werewolves through dA.
And feel free to note the both of us if you would like to donate prizes. We would love you forever if you’d like to donate prizes. We want our prizes to be more than just subscriptions, so there are calls for artists to donate original works of art, prints, crafts, jewelry, clothing, and baked goods.
Yes, we are serious about the baked goods.
