I have heard that they are going to be making a sequal to Tron. And someone from the original is involved.
Don't know anything about plot, director, or come to think of it any thing else at all.

You should watch it, though the effects are pretty dated and it's a film very much of it's time, it's still enjoyable. Than again you may not like sci-fi so may find their outfits silly.

As far as I know, the TRON 2.0 video game is the only sequel. I can't imagine a concept like TRON wworking in a theatrical release these days, so it maybe it could happen as direct-to-video.
