Outlander A new film that is supposed to be out this month. Basical plot sounds bad, but the trailer looked fun.
Plot: Space man comes to earth during the time of the vikings, chasing an alien beast. The alien beast looks and acts very like a dragon. Vikings and spaceman fight the alien/dragon.
It was originallly supposed to have a big budget and the effects by Weta, but one of the backers pulled out, so it was filmed for less in America - but as I said the trailer looked pretty good.
The Cottage Comedy/horror, about two men that kidnap the daughter of a local crime boss and hold for ransom. Turns out they are really really bad at kidnapping, and they've picked a cottage to hide in that is near the home of an insane murderer. . .
I enjoyed this film lots. Found it to be a giggle.
Indiana Jones and the crystal skull OMG! what did they do!! I did not like this film. The plot was horrible. The villians were more silly than villinous and their accents sounded fake to me.
I did like some of the action scenes and dialogue, but for me the plot about aliens completely ruins the world setting. Some of the action scenes were over-the-top and really didn't fit the feel I expect form an indi film (eg surviving a nuke by hiding in a fridge!).
Was fun to see a character from the original film back, but it wasn't enough to off-set the stupid plot.
Oh, and did I mention the plot was silly?

I saw Indy 4 at the cinema and was quite suprised by people saying they found the plot a bit unrealistic. Is it really anymore unrealistic than discovering the Ark of the Covenant or the Holy Grail? But your right it was silly in places. Wonder if it generated enough money to make another?
Not seen the Cottage or Outlander. Outlander sounded like it could have been a good blockbuster movie if the other backer had not pulled out. Whose in it?

I had no trouble with the basic premise of 'Crystal Skull.' Aliens were big in the 50's so sure, let Indy deal with aliens and the crystal skull was a great way to do it.
But everything else...(by which I mean, yeah, the fridge)...bleah....
But I'm still putting the DVD on my Christmas list. Gotta have the whole set....

Outland is now available for pre-order (which I've done ) Amazon.co.uk has it for about £10.99 which seems a fair price of a new film. I found out this morning that Harrison Ford earned $45mil from the Cyrstal Skull film (guessing this is in part wages, commissions, product sales, etc).
