We all know these gutwrenching scenes in movies that cause us to lie awake night after night... maybe some of us haven't really experinced this past the age of 12, but i think everybody has a memory of a certain movie that scared you like hell. Tell me!! for me it would have to be before i actually ever saw AWIL and my dad told me about the subway scene. I was scared to death, and kept playing the scene in my head, even though it'd never seen it. Ofcourse when i saw it, it was nothing like i imagined. It was awesome, but not really scary. Since i saw it, it's been my favourite movie. Isn't that a cute story? ;D Now tell me yours. It doesn't have to be werewolf-related, even though mine was

I think it was the dog turning inside out in The Thing. I was also terrified of the Evil Dead.

It would be AWWIL for me too. When I was a kid I was desperate to see it at the movies but couldn't as it was a (then) X certificate film (over 18's only. I was 10). I had to wait until it came out on video to rent. We watched it round a friends house and it scared the crap out of me - especially the attack at the start and the dream bits. The bit where David sees himself in the bed in the woods...and opens his yellow eyes. Brrrr.

For me real life was scarier then any film, so I cannot think of any movie moment that made me hide under the blankets at night.

I can't say it scared me to watch but a scene from Nosferatu did give me actually nightmares. It's the scene where you see his long fingers creeping over the wall behind this woman and then in the next scene he has the woman over his shoulder and he's heading up some stairs. At least i think that was how the scene played out...

I would have to say The Shinning which to this day is still my favorite movie. Jack Nicolson I such an awsome actor. when i was a kid it was the scene were he goes in the room with the lady taking a bath and he goes to kiss her she turn into a decaying zombie.

i actually never saw the shining. i have it right here in my collection, but haven't been able to find the time for it. I have to agree that Jack Nicholson is a brilliant actor. Just saw Anger Management.. he's great... and i do vividly recall his performance in Wolf... At times a very cool movie and at other times an unintentionally funny werewolf-film

Watch the shinning, you are going to love his acting if you thought he was good in those other movies.

I second moonreaper, the shinning is one of his best films.

Yes. The Shining is brilliant! It's Nicholson and Kubrick and King. There is no bad here. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. It is Stephen King week on Sky Horror/Sci-fi Channel and they are showing the Shinning at 9pm tonight. No doubt it will also be shown later on in the week.

Cool. I've got a bit of a stephen king collection within my DVDs. Rose Red, Shinning, It, Carrie, The Stand, one or two others I cannot remember. hmm maybe I should look into his other films to get Is it me, or do other people find the endings of a lot of his films don't work? like in It and The Stand.

Is everyone spelling shining as 'shinning' as some sort of simpsons tribute?
Anyway, yeah, I find that the longer the King story, the worse the ending. His short stories usually have excellent endings.
Marcus, is Rose Red an adaptation of Rose Madder? I've seen a bunch of King movies and read most of his stuff, but I'm unfamiliar with Rose Red.
