Went to see this movie last night and i have to say it is ACE!
I was never a fan of the original show but was of The Next Generation, so i wasn't really gonna bother with this movie but i'm so glad i did. It was brilliant. Well worth watching even if you never been a fan of any of the shows.

Yeah, the trailers I've seen look very good. Glad it lives up to them I always liked the orginal series, more so than the spinoffs ones. Though I admit the effects are better in the spinoffs. I remember when Next Gen first come on, I used to watch it and used to find a lot of the episodes seemed to be remakes of ones from the original, just with different settings - but that could just have been me

JJ Abrams' Star Trek is fantastic! I'm a huge fan of the original series and liked some of The Next Generation but hated almost everything else that followed. This new movie is just a huge amount of fun that manages to honour the original while injecting some much needed energy, slick visuals and great humour in to the whole enterprise (pun intended). Star Trek has now thankfully lost (no pun intended) its po faced seriousness and the dull and drab look it developed on tv and in later films. It is now back to being the colourful, sexy, dynamic and fun character based sci fi adventure of the original. The new cast are all brilliant - especially Chris Pine as Kirk and Karl Urban as McCoy. The movie also looks and sounds gorgeous. ILM's fx are simply stunning and Michael Giacchino's score is one of the best film scores of recent memory. It may not have the allegorical smarts that some of Trek's best efforts have had, but at least it's immensly cinematic as well as character and emotion driven. And did I mention it's just a whole truck load of FUN?

When i first heard Karl Urban had been cast as McCoy i just couldn't see it. But he was outstanding as they all were.
I've already said i was never a fan of the original series but i was of the movies they made as they were brilliant and of the Next Generation. I hated the shows that followed on from the Next Gen and was convinced we had since the last of Star Trek after Enterprise finished but THANK GOD for JJ Abrams!!! Star Trek is cool again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really did like the movie and the Original Series. Even though the movie was different, from the fact that there was a lot of more action in it than in the original series it still was good and funny. So basically, I agree with you guys.

I heard the only actor that didn't suit his role was Shaun Pegg playing Scotty.
Those of you that's seen it, would you agree with that, or did he do ok?

He was fine. He was in the film for all of about five minutes it seemed so it's hard to say but I don't see any problem with him. If anything, Karl Urban's spot-on McCoy was more distracting because he was doing such a great imitation of the his character when no one else was.
I was amused by the hue and cry that went up when *gasp!* a comedy actor was cast for the role. Seems those die-hard Trekkers never watched the original series which actually had a lot of humor, particularly involving Scotty.

All of the cast were wonderful. This film quite simply couldn't have been cast any better. I didn't realise until recently but Zachary Quinto (Spock) and Chris Pine (Kirk) have actually known each other for a while now, so they were actually friends in real life even before being cast as two of the greatest friends in pop culture history.

I thought of the character choices were great. I have to say when i first heard about the casting i was doubious as to how Karl Urban and Simon Pegg would pull it off as they are not who i imagined in the roles but they were brilliant.
