Is the website breaking copyright laws, be they international or domestic, by publishing these books online?

The act of scanlation by scanlation groups occupies a sort of grey area in law. Technically it is illegal, however, the official translators and producers of anime or manga almost never take legal action against such groups, the worst that has ever occured is a cease and desist. Besides, even if action is taking, the group can only be forced to stop ditribution of one series at a time. OneManga has successfully hosted the big three of manga for years now. I know of only 2 mangas on their site that have been removed, and that was by request. Also, while the act of uploading anime/manga may be considered illegal by some, it is in no way illegal to read or watch them as an individual, to my knowledge. Google's done worse.

I just don't want to support illegal activity, personally.

I'm not sure just reading or watching their work counts as support. They encourage their people to visit their sites and donate, or lend their services in scanlation, that sort of stuff I would never do. But just enjoying the fruits of their labors, I don't see the problem. If you still don't want to read it online, then you just have to wait a few months for the manga to get out of Japan in other languages officially.

Yeah. I've considered find the rest of the Hellsing books online and finishing them just to get them over with. And I guess if the Japanese companies don't really care, it's not that big a deal. The copyright laws could just be a formality. I've heard they might actually be happy to have their books get out there; it's like free advertising. But don't take my word for it.

Didn't I just say that...? Anyway, some real brutal $#!t has been happening in this manga. There's mention of rape, full on nudity, and very graphic gore and death. Sort of a torture scene too. Ogami is very much the lone wolf persona. Fixed the link.
