A little bit more Hamlet... In Olivier's 1948 Hamlet, Peter Cushing played Osric, the part played by Robin Williams in Branagh's version. Christopher Lee was an uncredited extra. But the two did not meet until the 1957 Curse of Frankenstein. Lee, who was to play the creature, burst into Cushing's dressing room, script in hand. "I have no lines!" he exclaimed. Cushing (Dr. Frankenstein) replied "I've read the script. You're lucky." The two would appear in a number of Hammer films together (and separately) and were close friends until Cushing's death in 1994. [/off topic diversions]

Still haven't seen Olivier's Hamlet yet. It is mostly about Olivier's ego. Not a bad production but IMO annoyingly hammy at times, as in the To Be Or Not To Be soliloquy. I guess this could be a Halloween movie, being after all a ghost story.

The other remakes did not impress me so much, although Kidman does help with the 2007 version. But others disagree with me.

As I recall, this version underwent many reshoots and the release date was pushed back several times. Plus changing how the invasion took hold didn't help matters either.

Never saw the Kidman version. Didn't mind the '93 and love the original and the '78 remake (always had a crush on Brooke Adams - Shock Waves rocks, too).
Didn't care for Chernobyl Diaries.

Anyone else watching horror films today? 💀 Watched: Train to Busan Top notch zombie movie Nightmare Cinema - Liked the first story, a clever slasher spoof that is also a good chiller. The others were meh, although the third one has all the gore you would want. Bride of Frankenstein I must have seen this a dozen times in the last 60 years and still love every moment Hell House LLC III OK but not great, still a good wrap up of the series Several early episodes of Supernatural Including the 2nd season werewolf one

I watched VIY (1967) at midnight last night. Nicely done in the tradition of Ukrainian folklore. Spooky and creepy without having to resort to gore and such.

The earlier seasons of SN are the best of the Series. The werewolf episode Heart, one of my faves. Stopped watching after S5, when Eric Kripke moved on. The show should've ended IMHO.

To stay in the Halloween mood, I watched Der Nachtmahr (The Nightmare) 2015. Shudder has it with English subtitles. My German is over 50 years out of date so that was really important. Warning - it is about teenagers who party a lot in the summer and it is LOUD. I watched it with the sound off.
Very strange. You never know what is real. Or even what real means. I liked it that there was never any resolution of the question. I also liked then 23 year old Carolyn Genzkow doing a perfect portrayal of a 17 year old girl.
