Blood Vessel (2019)
From IMDb: "Lifeboat survivors board a German boat that's crawling with vampires during World War II. "
Wasn't awful but I didn't care for the way it ended.

The Rock (1996)
Sometime in the last week, I saw something mentioning this movie and realized I'd never seen it. Nor did I have a copy. Couldn't even find it streaming on anything I had so I figured "oh, well."
Was out yesterday and hit up the local Habitat ReStore and they had the DVD for a buck.
An early Michael Bay movie (after a career directing music videos for the likes of Donny Osmond, Great White, Meat Loaf, and others) with all the usual Michael Bay flourishes already in place.
Ed Harris is a disgruntled Marine general who takes a tour group on Alcatraz hostage to shield his group and the missiles full of nerve gas they have pointed at San Francisco. Nic Cage is the FBI agent tasked with disarming the missiles and Sean Connery is the ex-British agent who has been illegally held prisoner in the US for 30 years but had managed an escape from Alcatraz and so is tasked with sneaking Cage and a SEAL team in to save the day.
I'm not entirely sure I'm on board with the idea that Sean's character was actually James Bond, but he was still in fine Sean form in the role. Plenty of other familiar faces pop up, including the Candyman himself, Tony Todd.
Good movie, even if it's a bit long. Over two hours.
American Sasquatch (2020)
A mostly found-footage, mostly awful Bigfoot movie. Essentially four different stories loosely tied together by a YouTube-style vlogger talking about Bigfoot sightings in the UK (hence the title specifying "American" Sasquatch). Only two even try and show a creature, and only one of those took a stab at any real effects. Lots of repetitious dialog and people talking about photos that they're looking at on their screens without showing us anything. Stuff like that.
Can't really recommend it for any reason.

Megaforce (1982)
Well, I spent money on it a little while back so I figured I'd watch it.
Megaforce is a top-secret multi-national force with the most advanced weapons and equipment, called in when there is no other option.
They're also led by Brad Majors from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, known here as Ace Hunter and portrayed by Barry Bostwick in all his bleached blonde, blow-dried glory. Also on hand is Edward Mulhare, Persis Khambatta (with hair, as opposed to her bald look in Star Trek: The Motion Picture), and Henry Silva who seems to be enjoying himself as the antagonist. (Oh, and Evan Kim who starred in the best Bruce Lee movie never made, the A Fistful of Yen segment of The Kentucky Fried Movie).
Directed by stunt legend Hal Needham, it's no Smokey and the Bandit or Hooper. They did have a pretty impressive collection of hardware - motorcycles and hopped-up dune buggies with distinctive Megaforce paint jobs as well as rockets and machine guns thanks to a deal with Mattel. The Hot Wheels toys used to show up on eBay fairly regularly, sometimes credited to The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai for some reason.
Wasn't great, even when I saw it on release, but still good for a rainy Sunday afternoon if you're in the mood.

Nobody (2021)
Had a coupon for RedBox so after work yesterday (ugh...so much overtime) I rented this one on streaming.
Stars Bob Odenkirk as Hutch Mansell, a husband in a somewhat loveless marriage, a father, an accountant for his father-in-law's business, stuck in a day-in, day-out rut...basically a Nobody.
Then a home invasion robbery happens which Hutch does nothing to stop, losing what little respect his son still has for him (his young daughter at least still loves him).
And we find out he hasn't always been the quiet suburban guy everyone thinks he is.
Written by original John Wick writer Derek Kolstad, apparently from an idea by Odenkirk, and directed by Hardcore Henry's Ilya Naishuller. Co-stars the great Christoper Lloyd in a small but important role as Hutch's father and RZA as his brother.
Really liked this one. Odenkirk easily sells both sides of Hutch's life and the action is top-notch.

The Ice Road (2021)
New Liam Neeson action flick on Netflix.
After a collapse at a remote Canadian diamond mine, the only way to get the equipment to rescue the trapped miners is to send it by truck over the infamous ice roads. As per usual for this type of movie, it's not long before the treacherous roads are the least of their concerns.
Fairly standard. Not bad but nothing that really stands out beyond some cool scenes of the big rigs playing on the icy roads.
