An unintentional Sam Richardson double-feature...
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Thirty years in the future aliens have invaded and, well, it ain't looking good for the home team. So while they couldn't figure out an effective way to kill the aliens, future humans managed to conquer time travel so they go back to 2022 to recruit more soldiers, using the hook that people will be fighting for their children and grandchildren.
Chris Pratt is one of the lucky draftees. Sam (Werewolves Within) Richardson is a fellow draftee and Yvonne Strahovski is a future scientist still trying to figure out the whole alien extermination thing. J.K. Simmons, Mary Lynn Rajskub, and Betty Gilpin also appear.
An enjoyable watch, even if it does get a little long. Saw a review that mentioned how it seemed pieced together from other s-f movies and there are definitely some familiar moments and riffs.
Free on Amazon Prime after the COVID thing messed up the theatrical release plans.
Werewolves Within (2021)
Horror/comedy about a small, very eccentric group of people trapped by a storm who realize a werewolf may be stalking them. And that it may *be* one of them.
Sam (The Tomorrow War) Richardson stars as the new forest ranger dropped in the middle of things. The adorable Milana Vayntrub (Lily from the AT&T commercials) is his guide to oddball residents.
Not like laugh-out-loud funny but I was entertained and Richardson and Vayntrub worked well together.
Rented on Amazon Prime.

No money, no energy, and a long weekend mean more time to lounge and watch movies than I've had in ages.... Fear Street Part 1: 1994 (2021) New on Netflix. Based on the Fear Street series of books by R.L. Stine (which I've never read by after this I might try one out). Fun, retro-style slasher about teens facing down a curse on their town. To be followed by Fear Street Part Two: 1978 (2021) and Fear Street Part Three: 1666 (2021) - I think before the end of the month. I'll be watching them. Jaws (1975) C'mon, it's the 4th of July. Of course, I'm watching this one on Blu-ray. And for some reason I went ahead and followed it with this DVD set: Jaws 2 (1978) Jaws 3-D (1983) Jaws: the Revenge (1987) Increasingly worse sequels which at least gave us a great comedy routine by the late Richard Jeni - youtu.be/5J5jHhN-lfQAnd then I went and ordered the Blu-ray version of the set because I found out it actually has a 3D version of Jaws 3 included. Fang (2018) Really low-budget werewolf flick (meaning barely any actual werewolf and probably a costume from Party City) watched on Tubi. tubitv.com/movies/559336/fang

Fear Street Part Two: 1978 (2021)
Another really good throwback to the slasher films of yore, this time landing right where they belong - in a summer camp during the late 70s. Sadie Sink from Stranger Things takes the lead in this installment and she does great. Pretty much everything you could want in a slasher. Looking forward to the conclusion to the trilogy next Friday.
Black Widow (2021)
I went ahead and coughed up the dough to get it on Disney+. I just got really, really spoiled with having a movie theater practically the next block over so working up the energy to eat up an entire afternoon heading to another town for a film...not going to happen with the hours I've been working these days, at least.
Anyway...if you're into superhero/MCU films, this is a great one. Recommended.

Boggy Creek II: And the Legend Continues (1984)
The 'official' sequel to the classic The Legend of Boggy Creek (1972) as the 1977 Return to Boggy Creek starring Dawn Wells and Dana Plato was done by different people.
Director/producer of the original, Charles B. Pierce, returns and adds writer and star to his credits for this one. Pierce is anthropology professor Dr. Brian C. Lockhart who, along with a trio of grad students, heads out to investigate sightings of the creature.
This movie isn't as faux-documentary as the original, but still presents several different stories of the creature as tales the professor is telling his students in between their own encounters.
The restored version looks pretty nice on Tubi. Can't disguise the low budget or the, let's say, limited acting skills, but if you liked the first that can't be much of a problem anyway.

Fear Street: Part Three - 1666 (2021)
Of course, I watched this as soon as I got home Friday. Great wrap-up to the trilogy. We get a look at what transpired to bring the evil to Shadyside and see the gang in 1994 go in for the final battle. I hope they come out on Blu-ray with extra features and such but Netflix doesn't seem inclined to go that route.
A Quiet Place Part II (2020)
Streaming on Paramount+ now. After a quick flashback to the first day the creatures showed up, we pick up with the remaining Abbott family shortly after the end of Part I, now with a new baby to deal with on top of the whole 'monsters who hunt by sound ripping apart anyone they hear.' Another good one.
A Classic Horror Story (2021)
Another one on Netflix.
"In this gruesome suspense film, strangers traveling in southern Italy become stranded in the woods, where they must fight desperately to get out alive. "
Personally, to me 'classic horror story' means ghosts or somesuch, not cultists and a smattering of torture porn. Not bad for what it was, I guess, but not what I was after.
