Jolt (2021) New one on Amazon Prime with Kate Beckinsale. "A bouncer with a slightly murderous anger-management problem that she controls with the help of an electrode-lined vest she uses to shock herself back to normalcy whenever she gets homicidal. After the first guy she's ever fallen for is murdered, she goes on a revenge-fueled rampage to find the killer while the cops pursue her as their chief suspect." Hey, it's Kate beating the tar out of people for 90 minutes. What's not to love? Monsters of Man (2020) Another one I caught on Prime. No Kate Beckinsale, tho. A CIA agent working with a weapons manufacturer has four prototype robots going after heroin producers in South East Asia. When a group of US doctors witnesses the carnage, they become the robots' next targets. Oh, and one of the robots is damaged and starts becoming self-aware. And there's an ex-SEAL in the mix, too... Not bad. Probably didn't need to be over two hours long, tho.

Blood Red Sky (2021) New one on Netflix I was hearing okay things about and my car was in the shop all afternoon, so... "A woman with a mysterious illness is forced into action when a group of terrorists attempt to hijack a transatlantic overnight flight." Preview here: youtu.be/U8M_1eyrBtQNot bad, but another one I'm not sure needed to be a whole two hours long. Breaking Barbi (2019) "A Tinder date gone astray leaves famous fitness selfie queen, Barbi, lost in the wilderness trying to survive despite Homeland Security, alien death rays and zero cell service. " Preview here: youtu.be/nv9rP7AGp08Yeah...I dunno... Super cheap, not as funny as it would like to be. Kudos to Vera VanGuard for throwing herself into it, I guess, as she's credited as star, co-writer, producer, stunt performer, and I think a few other things. Mostly it's her wandering around over-reacting and hallucinating/daydreaming. But a personal favorite, ace stuntwoman Amy Johnston, has a small part. She doesn't fight so if you want to see her, maybe hunt up Lady Bloodfight instead. Free (thankfully) on Tubi

DeepStar Six (1989)
One of a batch of underwater-themed movies that came out around the same time, along with Leviathan, The Abyss, and one or two others.
Greg Evigan versus undersea critter (eventually - it takes an hour for the beast to actually appear) along with Miquel Ferrer, Nia Peeples, Matt McCoy, and others. Directed by the original Friday the 13th's Sean Cunningham.
On Amazon Prime.
The Invisible Man Returns (1940)
Vincent Price (well, his voice, at least) stars not as the original Invisible Man, but a friend of that Griffin's brother who uses the invisibility formula to escape prison and prove his innocence, while fighting the unfortunate side effect of going mad.
The Quick and the Dead (1995)
Directed by The Evil Dead's Sam Raimi, this western stars Sharon Stone as a woman out for revenge against Gene Hackman. Leonardo Dicaprio, Russell Crowe, Gary Sinese, Lance Henrickson, and a bunch of other familiar faces round out the cast.
I'm not big on 'traditional' westerns, but I dig this and Silverado.

Piranha 3DD (2012)
Needed something to watch and realized I hadn't seen this. The sequel to 2010's Piranha 3D. Directed by John Gulager of the Feast trilogy and Clu Gulager's son.
This time the prehistoric piranha find their way into a waterpark. The Flash's Danielle Panabaker stars. Katrina Bowden also has a role in this which is quite a bit livelier than her recent 'Great White' movie. Like all sequels, it has more of what the original had going for it - in this case, mainly boobs and blood.
Free on Tubi.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
I ponied up for another month of HBO Max to go ahead and watch this. You have to get the $15 "no ads" version to watch it, but that's still less than what it would've cost me to head out of town to see it in a theater.
The follow-up to 2016's 'Suicide Squad', a kind-of half sequel/half reboot to that film. Several characters return, played by the same actors, so it might as well be considered a sequel. Nothing I noticed in it seems to suggest the other film never happened.
Enjoyable, and very bloody. Seems like, with the Marvel movies tied to family-friendly Disney, Warner and DC have embraced not having those kinds of restrictions. Now if they could only get a solid game-plan together for their 'Cinematic Universe.'
I do seriously dig Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.
