Freaky (2020)
Just your typical 'body-swap' comedy wherein a teenage girl and a middle-aged man end up switching places except in this case the man happens to be the Blissfield Butcher, a serial slasher in the Michael/Jason/etc. mold.
While the Butcher gets adjusted to the opportunities (and disadvantages) of his new body - played by Kathryn Newton - the girl has to convince her friends that she's not a killer and get them to help her switch back while looking like Vince Vaughn.
Pretty fun flick that doesn't skimp on some graphic kills.
Snagged it from RedBox while I was out. (and didn't forget the coupon code this time)

I did not realize that I had already watched all of the recently acquired SF DVDs. There is another set still on the way. I did not feel like any more Hammer just yet.
I saw that Constantine (2005) was on cable and decided to re-watch it. Again. A flawed movie to be sure but it has enough fun stuff to redeem it IMO. It is the performances that pull me back.
Special upticks for:
Rachel Weisz, gets to play a real and complex character, a far cry from her Mummy role, and delivers very credibly.
Tilda Swinton, she always delivers something different and delicious, and she shines here as an angel with ulterior motives.
Peter Stormare, a worthy candidate for best screen Lucifer even though only onscreen rather briefly. Scary, creepy in a totally unexpected form.
Other good names on the cast, but those three are standouts.
Not so good list:
Keanu Reeves, although as a man whose feelings are just about burned out by his circumstances, his style of mostly non-acting fits well.
Shia LaBeouf, just annoying, almost as jarring as Jar Jar, although without any redeeming humor. Should have died when the mirror fell on him as far as I could care.
The light but really long snowstorm I mentioned before topped out at 6 inches. A heavier but hopefully shorter one started this morning and is expected to end this evening. I have not measured it yet but the initial forecast was one to two inches per hour. The total for the year might just hit six feet before long.

The War of the Worlds (2019-2019)
A three-part British mini-series adaption of the famous tale that differs from most in that it actually takes place roughly when it should - in 1905 in this case.
That said, it still takes quite a few deviations from the original Wells work but wasn't bad for a cold, lazy Saturday watch.
