I see you guys have been busy. So have I but not so much with movies. New laptop, new cellphone. even more snow. I think we have hit 7 feet for the years. Several ice storms, propane delivery Friday so I have to clear paths to back of house, half done - that snow is frozen, house work I was too lazy to do. If it was any warmer, there would probably a plague of frogs or something else biblical. I did manage to see San Andreas. Talk about non stop action and near miss after near miss. FX very good. Acting quite good as well.

Monster Hunter (2020)
Now that Paul W.S. Anderson and Milla Jovovich aren't making Resident Evil movies anymore, they're diving into another video game universe with this one. One I'm not at all familiar with so I didn't have that baggage going in to it.
Lots of nice looking monster fighting, which makes sense with Milla starring. She gets to be a little more light-hearted in this one than the RE movies and seems to have pretty good chemistry with Tony Jaa.
Not a horrible way to kill an afternoon, though it is way too obviously an attempt at another franchise.

Greenland (2020)
As fragments of a comet decimate the planet, a man tries to get his family to possible safety before the big 'Planet Killer' impacts.
Gerard Butler is the man in question, with Morena Baccarin and Roger Dale Floyd as his wife and young son.
Really good. As usual in these sorts of films, other people are almost more of a threat than the comet. More Deep Impact than Armageddon.
Kind-of makes me want to hunt up a copy of Sean Connery's Meteor from '79, too, just for fun.
This and Monster Hunter I picked up from RedBox, and remembered to use the coupon this time so it was only $3 to rent the pair.

Boss Level (2020)
A Hulu film with Frank Grillo as an ex Special Forces guy who finds himself stuck in a time loop, trying to figure out what's going on while being constantly attacked and killed by a variety of assassins.
Pretty fun action movie with car chases and gun/sword/fist fights throughout.
Naomi Watts, Michelle Yeoh, and Mel Gibson also star.

The Plan (2017)
FFH where a College reunion at a Castle in Italy goes horribly wrong.
Idiots read aloud from a journal, a la the audio tape in Evil Dead.
And well...

Hi guys! Has it really been that long since I last posted? Wow
Did I mention before that I was dog sitting? Well, I have become a Dog Daddy again. The person I was sitting for has finally reached sufficiently advanced dementia to require being in a home. I have inherited full time a 50+ pound Norwegian Elkhound. This dog is more than a handful. This breed is a tracker, wanting to run through the woods finding the Elk (Norwegian for Moose) and alerting the hunter while dancing around the animal’s legs to keep it from running off. She has broken two leather collars and a chain type leash and gone tracking. All old metal part failures. New collar and leash are nylon.
It looks like the snows have finally ended. Total from the start of the year is over 7 feet. But since there is still no clearance on the sides of the road (Danger Will Robinson!) I am keeping the canine on the property. Possibly why she wants to take off on her own.
Various troubles with new computer, new cellphone, and my PayPal account, plus an accidental attempt to use my credit card twice for the same amount. Visa and LifeLock were on my email and phone like instantly!
Watched Dracula Has Risen From the Grave, my second favorite of the Hammer Dracula series and Dracula A.D. 1972, OK but not legendary. Have now finished the Hammer collection.
My package of discs has finally arrived.
Stephen King: The Dead Zone, Pet Semetary, Silver Bullet, Graveyard Shift
Dracula Legacy Collection Dracula, Dracula’s Daughter, Son of Dracula, House of Frankenstein, House of Dracula, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein.
Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Collector’s Edition
50 Horror Classics A fair number of gems among the usual broken glass. Including: The Bat (Vincent Price), The Brain That Wouldn’t Die, Carnival of Souls, Dementia 13, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (John Barrymore), House on Haunted Hill (original), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Chaney Sr), The Last Man on Earth (Price), The Little Shop of Horrors (original), Metropolis (Fritz Lang), Night of the Living Dead (original), Nosferatu (original), The Phantom of the Opera (Chaney Sr), White Zombie.
Miscellaneous half decent ones, including lesser efforts from Karloff and Lugosi and Zucco

Girls Guns and Blood (2019)
Low budget grindhouse-y thing with personal favorite Christine Nguyen - star of such classics as Sharkansas Women's Prison Massacre and Bikini Jones and the Temple of Eros.
Bad guys steal money from a brothel and some of the girls lock-and-load to track them down and get the money back.
Free on Tubi
They Reach (2020)
Another one jumps on the Stranger Things nostalgia train. Three teens in 1979 deal with a possessed tape player that unleashes demons. Kind-of a Monster Squad/Evil Dead cross-over, tho it's never quite as funny as the Monster Squad or as bat-shinola crazy as Evil Dead. A little on the slow side tho things ramp up and there's a bit of gore.
Pulls off the 1979 vibe fairly well and the kids - Mary Madaline Roe as nerd-girl Jess, Morgan Chandler as her friend Sam (who of course crushes on her), and especially Eden Campbell as their corndog addicted third Musketeer Cheddar are all pretty good.
On Amazon Prime as well as Tubi.
