Hmm....can't go wrong with a good zombie movie but I'll admit I've not ever thought of them in "top ten" terms. Do love "Shaun of the Dead" and "Return of the Living Dead" 1 and 3. The "Evil Dead" movies are awesome. Lucio Fulci's "Zombie" has one of favorite horror movie scenes of all time. Of course Romero's works are up there. The best of all I'd have to say is my zombie trilogy "The Dead Live Again".

I've never really seen a good zombie movie now you mention it. Except "White Zombie" with Bela Lugosi

I love it. It really has the Universal Monsters feel, with great creepy music and a fantastic performance of Bela Lugosi. I can imagine a public domain* print puts people off, and I can also imagine a restored version can do the same thing with it's high price. Well fear not, I own a public domain version, and although a few cuts have been made and the sound is missing for 2 secs (no more, no less) I had a great time with this one!
and does "Plan 9 from outer Space" count as a zombie movie?
*(the film is in public domain)

Lots of good movies are in public domain. Like Night of the living dead(see it). and does "Plan 9 from outer Space" count as a zombie movie? I guess it does. Altho i would call it an Alien Invasion movie.

I think my favourites have to be (in no particular order)
Evil dead 1 & 2 Night / Dawn / Day of the dead (didn't like the city of the dead sequal though) Return of the living dead 1 & 2 Re-animator Shaun of the Dead
hmm - do the frankenstein films count as zombie films? After all the monster was a re-animated collection of corpses.

Loved "Return of the Living Dead 1", thought 2 was a waste of space pseudo-remake similar to "Highlander 3" (tho it did have Zodiac Mindwarp & the Love Reaction on the soundtrack, so points for that) and enjoyed the heck out of 3. Need to check if the unrated version has hit DVD here yet.
Looking forward to the new Special Edition of the first one.

I love the zombies, here's my top ten, not in order:
1. Night of the Living Dead ('69) 2. Night of the Living Dead ('90) 3. Dawn of the Dead 4. Day of the Dead 5. Shawn of the Dead 6. Re-Animator 7. Return of the Living Dead 8. Brain Dead 9. Dellamorte Dellamore 10. Zombie Flesh Eaters
Arg, no room for Wild Zero, which is also very cool. And 'I Walked with a Zombie', which I highly reccomend to fans of White Zombie.

I don't think I'm familiar enough with this genre to make a top ten, but I enjoyed Peter Jackson's early zombiefests. Also the "28 Days Later" movies and "Shaun of the Dead". I never got into the 'living dead' saga all that much for some reason. But the Evil Dead movies are bags of fun.
