Yes, we all know werewolves kick their asses all the way back to Transylvania, but since there was a zombie movies thread I thought these buck-toothed freaks deserved one too. Also I'm interested in knowing what other vampire movies I should check out.
This is my attempt at a top ten. Admittedly there are quite a few I haven't seen.
1. Interview With the Vampire (1994) 2. Nosferatu (1922) 3. Near Dark (1987) 4. Dracula (1931) 5. The Lost Boys (1987) 6. Shadow of the Vampire (2000) 7. Salem's Lot (1979) 8. From Dusk 'Til Dawn (1996) 9. Bram Stroker's Dracula (1992) 10. Blade (2000)

God i don't think i've seen enough to make a top 10! Well here goes:
1: Interview with the Vampire 2: Bram Stoker's Dracula 3: Dracula (Christopher Lee) 4: Nosferatu 5: Salem's Lot 6: Blade 2 7: Blade 8: From Dusk till Dawn 9: Near Dark 10: The Lost Boys
Come to think of it i've never actually seen any of the Dracula films with Bela Logosi in them but have seen bucketloads with Christopher Lee in!

I have the opposite problem. All Lugosi and no Lee. I need to sort that out ... what are the best of the Christopher Lee movies?

I havnt watched a single vampire movie in quite awhile so i cant make this list at the moment. But i will write afew ones that i think would make my list. Dracula (1931) That christopher lee dracula where he is completely silent and goes around kicking in doors. Anyone knows its name? From dusk til dawn Fright night (probably the one i saw most rescent except some blade movie) FrostBitten (FrostBiten fairly new swedish horror comedy. I absolutely love it. And so does the north koreans ) Nosferatu (the 70s version) Yea I should probably rewatch my vampire movies. I have quit afew.

I'm not sure about this one. Anything with Lee is great, I enjoy "Taste the Blood of Dracula" and "Dracula AD 1972" most personally.

I agree Weredog, Frostbiten was awesome! And the Christopher Lee one you mention sounds like 'Prince of Darkness', Lee doesn't speak at all in it.... Anyway, my top ten probably goes like this:
1. Dracula (1959, Lee) 2. Nosferatu (1922) 3. Frostbiten 4. Fright Night 5. Near Dark 6. Dracula (1992, Oldman) 7. Lost Boys 8. Shadow of the Vampire 9. Martin 10. Underworld
I'm not a big fan of Universal's Dracula, tho the performances were excellent the film itself I found a bit dissapointing. Lugosi, Ed Van Sloan and especially Dwight Frye as Renfield were all brilliant tho. I've reeeeally gotta see Salem's Lot.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of Universal's Dracula either, I think Nosferatu is a much more interesting adaptation.
I'm in the process of tracking down the Christopher Lee Dracula movies. It's quite shocking that I haven't seen any of them. Am I right in thinking that "Dracula", "Brides of Dracula" and "Dracula : Prince of Darness" are the 'official' Hammer trilogy?

I haven't seen all of Lee's Dracula movies, but 'Dracula' is definately a must-see. It's not especially faithful to the book but does it's own thing very well. The Hammer Dracula movies are: 1. Dracula 2. Brides of Dracula (No Lee) 3. Dracula- Prince of Darkness 4. Dracula has risen from the Grave 5. Taste the Blood of Dracula 6. Scars of Dracula 7. Dracula AD 1972 8. Satanic Rites of Dracula 9. Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires (No Lee)

To be honest i forget the actual titles of the ones i've seen. I know i've definately seen Dracula, Dracula Prince of Darkness, Dracula Has Risen From the Grave, Taste the Blood of Dracula and Dracula AD1972. Christopher Lee was the Dracula i grew up with. My oarents were big Hammer Horror fans (fans of most british institutions, Carry On's included) so i saw many of them growing up. I've never seen a Bela Legosi one, i've only ever seen clips of him introducing himself. To me Christopher Lee is the ultimate Vampire and Peter Cushing was the best Van Helsing.
Just out of interest has anyone seen Dracula 2001 starring Jonny Lee Miller and Gerald Butler? Gerald Butler is Dracula and they explain his hatred of silver and the cross by making out that he was Judas Iscariot. I thought that was one of the most original explainations i heard in ages! Still no where near as good as Christopher Lee's Dracula.

Yeah, I saw Dracula 2001. I think I thought was pretty bad at the time, but can't remember much about it. I remember Dracula turns into a wolf at one point, but I decided not to include shape-shifting vampires on the site.
It did have Nathan Fillion though, so points for that.

I thought Dracula 2001 was rubbish, but the idea of him being Judas was quite original. I like Gerard Butler, but he just wasn't a good Dracula. The main thing I remember about the film was the totally un-subtle advertising for Virgin. Funny, I don't remember Nathan Fillion being in it. The Fillion rocks. We love The Fillion.

The Fillion played a priest. He gets cast as priests a lot. He has that priesty look about him.

And im suprised someone else here has seen it. It is in swedish after all For those that havnt seen it. The story is quite like the comicbook 30 days of night. Altho the script for this movie is older than the comicbook, the movie is newer. Here is the trailer found on youtube. youtube.com/watch?v=y4JlbVCK6IsThere is another one with both more action and talking. But its pretty shitty
