Next year sees the remake of Halloween coming to the cinema.
Directed by Rob Zombie.
Apparently it goes into details about why michael is Evil, and killing people. That they show his disturbed childhood, and such.
Also apparently rather then like in the first one where he appears and disappears without seeming to move (due to the camera flashing to another view, or someone blocking the sight and then moving) he'll be walking or lurching about into and out of shots. Which I feel is sad cause I rather liked his appearing and disappearing methods used in the original.
It sounds like it'll be more a gorefest than a scarefest. So a typical modern horror than.
For those that don't know Rob Zombie, he did films like House of a 1,000 corpses, and Hell's Rejects. Low budget splatterfests.
The clip I've seen looks high budget, and michael looks to be more hulking than the orginal.

With Rob Zombie in charge it can't be that bad. Kind of like Tom Savini's "Night of the Living Dead".

Not saying it will be bad. Infact its liable to be very gory. with some cool looks.
I just don't think it'll be that scary.
Rob's other films were interesting and gory, but not what I'd call scary.

Seen the workprint. Not the theatrical yet. The workprint was okay, but that was about it. The changes I've heard about weren't the ones I'd make (from the sound of it - more and bloodier kills).
I guess it's one of those deals where Halloween was going to be remade no matter what, so Rob Zombie is about a good a choice as anyone to do it.
Rob still needs to do "Werewolf Women of the SS" dang it!

I saw Rob Zombie's Halloween this past week. It was actually very good. It stayed pretty close to what I remember from the original, but it is A LOT bloodier. Scary...no, but then again the slasher films were never that scary to me in the first place. Even as a kid. But it is definitley a good movie. Check it out if you get the chance.

Rob Zombie's also made some pretty good music as well. I particularly liked Dragula which can be heard on The Matrix Soundtrack. It's playing in the nightclub that Neo follows the White Rabbit too and first meets Trinity.
I'm looking forward to seeing Rob Zombie's version on Halloween as he is renowed for gore, but it was never a movie i thought needed remaking. Still it'll be interesting to watch.

All gore and no scares. Sounds like the perfect flick for a chicken like myself

Fri Sept 28th is the new release date. The release has been rushed forwards for the UK as it has been very succesful in the US and outside the US, we are the bigest market by far for the Halloween franchise.
I've seen the first version before Rob went back for reshoots and had mixed feelings. Nowhere near as good as the original as it is more about Michael and his life and back story. It's also not scary, but IS very gritty and brutal. I'll definitley see the finished version in the cinema, though, as I'm a fan of Mr Zombie.

I'll buy it when it comes out on DVD. Add it to my growing collection of remakes

Some films (most infact) can not be topped by it's remake. Luckily enough some films don't try to be bigger than the origional, I think this is one of those cases.

28th September? Wouldn't you think they would have picked a date closer to Halloween?

28th September? Wouldn't you think they would have picked a date closer to Halloween? Ideally yes, except that Saw IV is out for Halloween and everything is steering clear of that sure to be money making machine. 30 Days of Night is also out not long after which looks to be a winner too. I think they just wanted to get Halloween out here asap and make some fast cash if it was hit in the US (which it has been)

Yes - another Saw movie for this Halloween. www.imdb.com/title/tt0890870/Same director, new writers. As long as they keep making shed loads of cash there will be blood...and more sequels.
