I liked the start of pyramids, when he was doing his final exam fo rthe assasin guild. I really should go back and start at book 1 and reread the whole lot

Interesting.. I've read them all and Pyramids is a strong contender for my overall favourite(along with Mort and Guards Guards or Men at Arms).

Really? Just couldn't get into it. I will try again though.
Casting has been confirmed for Going Postal. Someone called Richard Coyle is playing Moist and Claire Foy is Adora Belle. I've never heard of either of them. Charles Dance is taking over the role of Lord Vetinari from Jeremy Irons which i think is a shame cos he was good in The Colour of Magic.

Yeah. I liked Jeremy as Lord Vetinari. He had the right look about him.

Here is the trailer for the long awaited Going Postal. It should have been showing over the easter break but i think sky have held it back due to the Pacfic (from makers of Band of Brothers) showing over the easter weekend so eta is estimated to be end of May but that may change. If you watct the trailer it looks like we might have some werewolf action in there as well. sky1.sky.com/going-postal-aboutEnjoy

Saw clips for this over the last week or so. Looks like it should be fun.
The actoring doing Moist seemed to work ok, though the proof of the pudding will be in the eating. - or in this case the watching.
On youtube theirs some clips from a Guards Guards play (it's got the actor who played Avon in Blake 7 in it) that are funny. shame they'd not put the whole play up as it looked like it would be very entertaining.

Guards, Guards and the other books about the city watch are the ones i'd really like them to make live action. Followed swiftly by the novels featuring Death as a major character such as Soul Music, Reaper Man, etc. My friend lent me the animated version of Soul Music, it was really good. A lot better than i expected.

Ask them to lend you Weird Sisters too if they have it.

Oh yeah, I saw the play of Guards Guards a few years back. It was very good in spite of the lack of a dragon! Hope they do Men At Arms on stage some day.

So did anyone catch the latest Discworld adaptation? Going Postal was shown in Sky one over the bank holiday weekend. I really enjoyed it, it even had a tiny bit of werewolf action in it at the beginning, although it was quite a dodgy CGI werewolf! Anyway if you can catch the repeats i'd recommended it.

Tried replying yesterday, but it kept crashing out on me when I hit "post reply"...
So, anyway, I watched Going Postal over the weekend and enjoyed it.
Thought the two main characters were done good (though would have liked to have seen Moist just a little more slick). Vetinari was also done good I thought.
Shame they'd missed a couple of things out of the film, like the sorting machine, the postman test, the cat. But it didn't hurt the story without them I guess.
Wasn't too keen on the Golem, looked too rubbery and not enough like baked clay.
Didn't think the Ridcully worked either, the one in Hogfather looked the part more.
I think they really should have started with the Nightwatch set of stories to be honest. As they are the ones that show the development of technology and the changing city much better.
Though their are rumours I've heard that the nightwatch stories may be done as a series. - wouldn't hold my breath though.
I think so far Going Postal is my favourite of the three live action films they've done so far.

Just so you know, there's a new Disc novel due out:
I Shall Wear Midnight Continues the story of the Tiffany Aching and the Wee Free Men.
When I've read the wee free men books in the past they've never struck me as children's books as their advertised as. The feel to me just the same as his regular ones. I guess their refered to as children's books simply because the main character is young - that's the only reason I can think.

I thought Charles Dance was okay as Vetinari but i prefered Jeremy Irons in the role tbh. But i agree 100% with you on the Ridcully casting, he was no where near as good as the guy who played him in the Hogfather. I thought the woman they cast as Angua was good. I'm keeping everything crossed that they announce another adaptation soon.
