"The Beast Must Die" was a terrible movie based on an interesting novella, I'd be interested to see that redone much better (it had a German Shepherd in a full-body toupee playing the werewolf!). Basically you've got a bunch of people trapped in a remote location beseiged by a werewolf, and no one knows which of their party is the shapeshifter (so yeah, Dog Soldiers ripped off the basic premise).
I'd also like to see a more serious version of "Teen Wolf", "Ginger Snaps" showed how that sort of thing could be done right.

Described like that you could say "Beast..." was already remade as "Howling V."
I like the idea in "Beast..." tho that they were all brought together because the host knew one of them was a werewolf and wanted to expose them, as opposed to the more common "random group of people being picked off by something."

i'd actually like to see them give it one more shot at AWIP, since i think that movie had great potential. So i'd like to see it again, only this time with GOOD acting and maybe rewrite the plot a bit. Ofcourse it would be more of a second attemt, than an actual remake. Also the idea of a serious version of Teen Wolf would be cool.. And the idea about lycanthropy as an addiction is the best i've heard in a long time! why hasn't anybody done that? There was something similar in Ginger snaps 2, and i really liked the effect of it

I still think sequels are the way to go, you could do a third teen wolf with the main character as an adult. That would actually make it easier to create a more serious and (or) darker version. The kid graduates college and gets a job as a biologist. While studying his werewolf gens to better understand it he discovers the DNA key that cause his transformation and is able to bottle it into a serum. One of his co-workers is curious and takes the serum. With his new born ability he abuses his power and is on the loose. Are you paying attention Hollywood write this down, this ones on the house.

Don't like that idea moonreaper. Teenwolf should stay as a comedy. That's what it is and that's what it should stay as. So a teenwolf 3 should keep to this. Should be about a teen who becomes a werewolf and the hijinks and funny situations he ends up in - updated of course to todays comedic taste.

i agree 100% i was just pitching the idea for mdupont15 just as an example. If it were me i would do a comedy, i mean we have plenty of serious werewolf movies already.

I do agree, that they should stop doing remakes and instead do sequals . . . or . . . *looks round* . . . actually do NEW plots!

I actually like remakes and CGI, *dodges tomatoes* and I'm glad they're redoing Wolfman. I'm tempted to watch the original but the older a horror movie is, the more cheesy and funny it is to me, or else it's borring. I tried watching the original frankenstein movie once, and I thought it was borring. Although, good costume designs and stop motion animation work great as well. If they could use the same efforts as say Lord of the Rings and The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe in their costume and effects designs in a werewolf movie then I could enjoy it. I just can't enjoy something with a really cheesy mask. I mean, save the cheesy masks for fun and halloween, I want to see realism in a film. But I can't help but agree...they need newer original stories. I wish I could make my werecat story into a film, it does have werewolves in it and even includes a werewolf origin back story. The only thing you may not like about my werecat story...is that the werewolves are the bad guys. At least, most of them are. There are a few good ones.

'I want to see realism in a film...'
That's actually the reason I DON'T like CGI. It looks cartoonish to me, and not 'there'.

It really depends on the film. Not to mention there are just some things you can't do with costumes and make up that you can do with CGI. Now, I was going to go into a computer animation career, but unfortunately that didn't happen, and now I'm into Medical Admin Assistant (Although I'm planning to take Digital Arts as well...) but... I do appreciate good custome designs and animotronics and stop motion animation...if it's done right. Just running around with a Halloween mask on doesn't make a good movie to me. But, if time and effort into sculpting the mask and making it look realistic is done, then I'm going to enjoy the film. It's the same with CGI really, if it looks cartoonish, obviously the animator didn't put the effort into the film. What movie makers need to understand, is that just because they have this sort of technology, it doesn't mean they should get the movies out quickly. If you want a good movie with CGI, then in my opinion they need to spend as much time on the details in the animation that they do with the costume designs. Like I said, if they could make costumes as detailed as they did in The Lion the Witch and the wardrobe, and Lord of the Rings, then I'm all for it. But don't just put on a cheap halloween costume and expect me to get scared. Same with the CGI, don't make a crappy animation, make it look real. It takes time and effort, and unfortunately I'm not really good at it. If the film is supposed to be completely animated, then I can understand.

I have no problems with CGI in films but it seems to me that most of the WW films that have used CGI haven't had the budget to pull it off properly. Give the filmakers more money then if they have to use CGI, and too be honest after seeing Dog Soldier's why would they when they can have that, at least they might have a fighting shot!

Actually, I didn't really like Dog Soldiers. I couldn't understand the dialouge and it got confusing and a tad borring to me. :/ The excitement didn't even happen until the very end of the movie.

Must admit, I'd not noticed any local phrases in the dialogue which may not be understood by those that don't live here, but than I'd probably not notice one if it hit me on the head repeatedly with a sign saying "this is a local phrase, that non-english will not understand". Any particular thing that stuck out as not understandable?
For me the excitement started about 30 mins into the film, when they were running for their lives through the forest from the werewolf pack.
