Not sure if this has been done before.
Why not list the movies you think should be re-done, presumably ones that lacked current technology, and could be made much better with it,
I would liked to see the Company of Wolves done over...sorta, i'm kind of divided. I want the movie to look better, but that old look/feel it has gives it a major part of it's creepiness factor, kind of like the Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits, which current movies lack. That music too, the stuff from the 80's and 90's always got this REALLY creepy music. The older movies always give me a feeling of true terror, as opposed to todays, which are basically just exscuses to show copious amouns of gore, almost no story horror, it's all visual. What do you think? More or less scary with current tech? I'm not really sure if it could be considered Horror, definitely creepy, but it has so much metaphor and psycho-analysis I'm not sure, Angela Carter went kind of Freudian.

You asking about general films we'd like to see remade? or werewolf ones in particular? Generally I hate remakes. I've only seen a very few that have made me say "Yes I'm glad they've done that". The most noticeable was The Thing - which is pretty different from the orignal anyway. I'd definately never want to see one remade that had been good already (wickerman anyone?) But if I was tied down and tortured until I listed some than I guess I'd have to say: Howling 2 to Whatever number it's got up to. Preferrably with improved scripts, budgets, actors, directors, producers, then the horrible mess they made of that set. Skinwalkers, had potiential, but think they went the wrong way with it and needed better looking werewolves. American werewolf in paris - HORROR first, comedy second! Full Eclipse - Turned on it's head maybe, or turned into a special forces unit in a war. And yes, You've noticed I'm picking bad films rather then good ones. That's cause good ones don't need remaking, their Good! Though sequals to the good ones would be nice

I'm hoping this reamke craze will fizzle out soon and we'll actually get some original movies.
That said, I AM looking forward to the Wolf Man remake. Usually I'm only in favour of remaking a movie if it's based on a book, and the film attempt doesn't live up to the source material. So with that in mind I guess I'd nominate Silver Bullet. Someone else could have a go at adapting it (Stephen King's Cycle of the Werewolf) and keep the book's episodic format and awesome title.
People always say stuff like 'wow, imagine how much better it could be with today's technology!', but who's gonna argue that the transormation scene in Cursed (2005) is actually better than American Werewolf in London (1981)??

Hey, I liked the transformation scene in "Cursed." Not as much as the one from "AWIL," but still.
I'm only in favor of remakes if the originals were bad or really old. That's why I think this "Wolf Man" remake has potential. The original was good, but it we have far better technology and make-up these days that I think an update can work. However, movies like "AWIL" and "The Howling" had good effects, so updating them would be pointless. It'd be like having a car that works perfectly but wanting a new one just because it's new.
Going back to "Cursed," I'd like to see that made by someone who won't give up on it halfway through. It could have been a fun little homage to "The Wolf Man," what with the fortune teller and stuff, but it just got ridiculous by the end. And don't tease a werewolf fight scene without delivering!
I don't know if you'd call it a remake, but I'd like to see a modern movie with a similar plot to "Werewolf of London." I'd also like to see a modern version of "She-Wolf of London" with a werewolf. Well, I never saw the original, but I have no reason to; there's no werewolf!
Oh, and I agree with all of Marcus' choices except "Skinwalkers," which I think works well enough as it is. Could've used a better transformation scene, though.

I much prefer the transformation in AAWIL to Cursed. It seemed more realistic and painful. They could remake DarkWolf, now there's a movie that needs a make over. I have heard rumors that they are remaking the Howling. Wonder if someone will remake AAWIL?

I'm not the sort to believe that all transformations must be painful. I'm also much more open to CGI. So...yeah.

Well it's not that i'm totally against CGI. I guess i just have such a deep love for the transformation scene in AAWIL that nothing has really compared since. Plus i alsways tended to think that transforming from human to werewolf must be kinda painful. I thinking of bones cracking, hands elongating etc....

I don't mind CGI. I just don't like bad CGI. Which tends to happen in low budget films since CGI came out. For some reason the film makers think doing bad CGI is good enough for their film. I'd rather they didn't have those bits in rather then having them look so bad it pulls you out of the film.

hmmm, the lycanthrope as an addictive thing, that causes the more the character shapeshifts the more he wants to due to the addiction of the endorphins released during change. could be an interesting varient

I think I know someone who uses a similar gimmick in her stories. Or maybe just in this one picture she drew.

I cant stand remakes, i think its a laizy way to make a quick buck and ruin a great movie in the process. I dont much care for CGI either, my cousin does make-up and fx's for movies and she says that a lot of special fx's artists are quitting because their being overun by computers. Now thats wrong, i would much rather watch a gore scene and be able to say "wow how in the hell did they do that" know that a person took the time to create the effect by hand.

I certainly agree. At the very least, no matter how bad the costume/make-up effects are, they're actually *there.* I'll always be more emotionally invested in a character being menaced by something physical than when I know they're in front of a green screen running from a stick with a tennis ball on the end of it.
