Looks like its Joe Johnston (Jumanji, Rocketeer, Jurassic Park 3)
A spectacularly average filmmaker. My excitement level for the film has dropped several notches.
Still, could have been worse, could have been Brett Ratner.

I think "Jumanji" and "Honey I Shrunk The Kids" are both very underrated family movies. He's never made a film quite like this, but I think he's a competent filmmaker. Maybe they picked him because he has some interesting ideas about the project.
The main thing is that the script is solid, which it almost certainly is thanks to Andrew Kevin Walker.

Never liked Jumanji or Honey I Shrunk the kids very much. Rocketeer is quite good fun though.
He's certainly a competent filmmaker, but for The Wolfman I was hoping for someone with a bit of style and creative vision and not just a solid 'point and shoot' type. A lesser director can still balls up the best of scripts.
Still, I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.

I quite enjoyed Jumanji but wasn't that keen on Honey I Shrunk the Kids but i have to say i was hoping for a director with a bit more on his CV. Still i guess we'll have to wait and see. I wish they'd bloody hurry up!

I liked jumanji and Honey I shrunk the kids (though the sequals - not good).
I'd have liked to have seen someone with more horror experience though. Or at least thriller/sci-fi-horror.
The 3rd jurasic park was pretty standard as they go. Nothing to make it stand out.
I just hope it doesn't become a film-by-numbers.

Well...one, I just love "The Rocketeer." I've not really disliked any of his movies but I agree that most are pretty much point-and-shoot.
But in this case, that might be good. Remember, the film is supposed to be ready to go. They need someone who can and will just slide into the director's chair and go with it. Which is why Ratner's name got tossed out at first - X-Men 3 anyone?
Anyway...sure, there's other people I think could do a better "Wolfman" film but I think for the current situation, Johnston is one of the better choices. If the script is as good as they say (and with the strike going on, it better be) I have every reason to believe it'll be a solid film.
But man, I wish Romanek had stayed on board....

I assume it'll still be Benicio Del Toro.

I am still very excited to see this movie. If the writing is good, and the acting is good, a less than stellar director can't ruin it. At least if they have a good editor

The film is prepped and ready to go. I'd have loved to have had Frank Darabont step in instead, but I'm sure JJ will do (at very least) a sound job and make an entertaining movie.
Just please god don't let Benicio or Rick Baker bail.

I'm really hoping they don't tone things down, to try to get a lower release rating.
