I wonder what movies he will use as his inspiration and if he will go with a werewolf on two legs or four?

Im pretty sure it will be a two legged one like in the original. (or perhaps both... like in the original ) But im sure thats where the similarities in design ends.

This is going to be a big summer blockbuster, so I guess we can probably expect a painstakingly-designed very expensive and extravagant werewolf, most likely part-CG and part-physical effects. Hopefully nothing like the Van Helsing ones.
I think the closest Mark Romanek has come to directing horror was the video for "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails. Freaky stuff.

Although I'm not expecting anything good will come from this movie, I'm not judging this flick till' it's out
But you know Universal...money first, quality second. To tie this in to the "scary-wolf" discussion going on recently, I hope they go for style instead of shocks whatever they do. I'dd hate to see Larry Talbot be involved in those sort of movies...

Well they've got a stylistic director and a stylistic screenwriter, so that bodes well. It's true what you say about Universal although they did recently bring us "Children Of Men", "United 93", "Serenity" and a couple others ... if they were going to release a trashy movie they would have signed Paul W.S. Anderson to write and Gore Verbinski to direct.

I wouldn't mind it being a trashy movie, as long as it's not a blockbuster wannabe Steven Sommers flick.
Didn't see "United 93" yet, would really like to...

Let's not forget that another director, Russell Mulcahy, had never directed a theatrical feature film before making "Highlander" (although IMDB lists one, of which I have my doubts wheter it's a. correctly dated b. theatrical).
The new Wolf-Man may become crap, but let's let it become crap by itself, and not because film fanatics like us started treating it like crap while it was still in pre-production
Still...there can be only one
