Kate sent me an e-mail today explaining how she would come over tonight and rape me. It was graphic and of course I was turned on. She wants me man. I mean who wouldn't want to be with Rob of Necrodemon.

I answered Kate's phone call today. I told her to stop crying. I know it's hard to deal with the fact that you can't have Rob of Necrodemon hunny but you'll be all right!

Official teaser trailer is up! www.entertheunderworld.comWorth checking out. Couple of cool glimpses of the Lycans. Maybe my eyes are not fast enough but... I don't see any scenes of Selene's daughter is this trailer. Let me know if you do. Looks action-packed.

I'm wondering if the "thing that escaped" is Selene's daughter. In the one scene we see it leaping across the street its coloration seemed a bit like Marcus' hybrid form and it looked awful lanky for a Lycan.
Anyway, it looks like they're going back to the less hairy look for the Lycans. I approve, I think they looked best with minimal hair.

Saw Underworld Awakening at the cinema last night. I don't expect much from an Underworld movie other than a bit of dumb fun, but even for this series it seemed extra light on story and character development. It has it's moments, but it's definitely the weakest of the 4, and I felt a bit short changed (possibly cos it's only showing in 3D so I had to pay 17 quid for a ticket!).
Unfortunately the werewolves are reduced to sewer-dwelling CGI bad guys this time around.

It's pretty much standard fare as far as the Underworld series is concerned. We get great practical monster effects, no story, no character development and Kate Beckinsale in that body suit. I will say that the CGI is not as eye gougingly bad as it is was in Underworld: Evolution and didn't feel out of place like in Rise of the Lycans. In several shots it actually helped to compliment the practical suits.
All in all, Underworld: Awakening is certainly a event when it comes to werewolf special effects. The Lycans look great, and I feel that they've perfected the process of bringing them to life in this film.
If you have ten dollars to spare on what is essentially delicious eye candy, I recommend it. If not, wait for the dvd.

Here's a link to some CGI test reels: vimeo.com/35389458You guys know me, I love practical effects as much as the next sane werewolf fan but I have to say the CGI werewolves were rather good in this film. Not as good as the practical effects which rocked my socks as they usually do but God Damn, it feels like they've made some real strides here. Okay, maybe they're obviously CGI and maybe some of the shots of the Uber Lycan look Syfy level slick and slimy but for the most part the Low Lycans (the lanky, hairless ones that look like badass versions of the Harry Potter werewolf) are really cool. They move well and just look awesome as rabid, diseased and starving versions of the lycans we see in the previous films. The Super Lycan is kind of hit and miss, but when they hit they really hit. Can't believe some people disregard these werewolf designs as "ugly rat pigs" what elitist bullshit.

Mmmm i was never a fan of the werewolf designs in the Underworld movies, with the exception of William whose design was brilliant. But i'm not sure i would have described them as "ugly rat pigs"! Seems a bit harsh.
