Wolf did work wonderfully with the minimal look of the werewolf and the slow progression of how not only his body but his mind was transforming.

Ginger Snaps also features the gradual changes in Ginger's body and mind as the full moon approaches. But at least Nicholson did not have to cut off his tail. Ginger is a full on werewolf. I guess that and its sequels are coming up soon.

Werewolf was incredibly sucky, even when I could figure out what was supposed to be going on. It was even bad by MST3K standards. Bad Moon is a favorite of mine. Possibly because I was a Rin Tin Tin fan when I was a kid. No really, I like it. AWIP was not great but seemed even worse because AWIL was so good. On second viewing it seemed better than the first time. The fact that I watched it twice says something. Don't know the others.

I try to forget about the connection between AWIL and AWIP, as it does make watching AWIP easier.
It has it's moments, despite it's bad CGI.

Most of those moments seem to involve Serafine. Or Amy.

Some of my all-time favorites here! I really love the Ginger Snaps trilogy. Those two young ladies hit exactly the right notes. (Or howls as the case may be.) Good stories, lots of originality, well acted, good werewolves. What's not to like? And I really dig watching Brigitte's facial expressions. Dog Soldiers is a terrific werewolf movie. Great characters, great werewolves, great action, great gore. If you want a break from complex plots but like twists, it does not get better than this. Don't know the others but Wolves of Wall Street seems....strange....

Wolves of Wall Street, had an interesting premise, but fell flat on delivery. They needed it to be a little more dark, and a little more of a thriller style for it to have pulled it off I think.

I never got into Underworld that much. The movies were watchable (especially Kate Beckinsale ) but not classic. The CGI was technically well done but rather soulless. Too overboard to be believable. Never saw Darkwolf. Apparently I did not miss much. When I was a kid I had a battery operated robot toy that moved and flashed its eyes like that. Van Helsing sucked. No other way to put it. Edward Van Sloan must be doing about 600 rpm in his grave. It was only watchable at all because of Kate. Romasanta looks like it could be really interesting. I was thinking it would be in Spanish but apparently it is in English (?) Got to track this one down. I liked the early Harry Potter's because they were fun. The later ones were less so IMO. Prisoner was #3 and still on the fun list. R.J. Lupin falls into the category of angst-filled werewolf, sort of Lon Chaney with a PhD. As Hermione put it "A werewolf has no choice." But nobody gets killed in this one or even bitten. And we learn that the best defense against a werewolf attack is a friendly hippogriff.

I was happy when they brought in the distinction between a lycan and a werewolf. And, made the werewolves look like werewolves Darkwolf was bad. very very bad. Tops most peoples list of the worst werewolf film made. Don't expect an action film when watching Romasanta. It was interesting, but more as a period 'is he? isn't he?' kind of thing.

There seemed to be some changes in the appearance of transformed Lycans as the series went on. It seems to me they got hairier for one thing. Or am I imagining that? I only ever saw the Underworld movies on cable, not DVD, and cannot backtrack and compare. Romasanta sounds like it is right up my alley. I like movies with plots that engage one's forebrain and not just the amygdala. When I was a kid I watched a whole lot of old movies, mostly black and white. Up until mid-1958, if I recall correctly, it was not allowed in the US to show any movie on TV that was made after 1947, to reduce the impact of TV on movie theaters. Movies back then had minimal FX technology available to them and often minimal budgets. Combined with the restrictions of the infamous Hays Code on content, movie makers were forced to rely on (gasp!) plots and acting.

Episode 19 is up! Sorry about the long delay on this one. I think future episodes will probably be uploaded on Sundays, to give me the full weekend to get them finished.

Again, I have only seen two of these. (You're slowing down, old man!) Cursed and Brothers Grimm, while each had its moments, ultimately disappointed me.
I absolutely love Christina Ricci as an actress and have ever since she was little Wednesday. (So I am weird, so what?) But in Cursed I often wept for her - OK not literally but close enough. Did all the good stuff end up on the cutting room floor?
The main reason I watched The Brothers Grimm was Terry Gilliam. I was hoping for another Twelve Monkeys or something even half as good. Not all that bad but...sigh...
For both of these movies - what might have been!
