Prancer (1989)
A clever juxtaposition of hard reality and outright fantasy. Eight year old Rebecca Harrell steals the show as the spunky kid who discovers and hides an injured reindeer she found in the woods. She is convinced that this is really Prancer, whose plastic likeness was seriously damaged when it fell from the full sized Santa and reindeer display high over the main street in town. Sam Elliott is at his orneriest as the girl's widowed father having a tough time making ends meet. Lots of complications and side plots ensue, which are all tied together. As an example of how seriously this movie explores its themes, there is a scene where the girl and her classmate BFF argue angrily about the existence of God. Really. Yet at the same time it is as enjoyable as one would expect from a tale of a half-angel half-devil 8 year old girl who still believes in Santa Claus.

Anna and the Apocalypse (2017)
I've added this one to my yearly Xmas rotation. Technically I had it on more for background but kept stopping to watch the songs so I just went ahead and watched it. Still fun.
Die Hard (1988)
Yes, we're long past the time when it was 'cool' or 'edgy' or whatever to call this a favorite Christmas movie, but it's still one of the best action films ever made and Christmas is as good a time as any to re-watch it.

A Christmas Horror Story (2015) Less than Zero (1987) A Christmas Horror Story is one of my most favorite seasonal films. I remember Less Than Zero but did not really care for it. Robert Downey did a good job but he was only playing his coke addicted self.
