Treevenge (Short Film) www.undergroundfilmjournal.com/full-film-online-treevenge/It's not Psycho Santa you should fear, it's the Christmas Trees! Believe me, their bite is worse than their bark. Definitely carniferous! I don't think I wood be going out on a limb when I say that when it comes to Yule Log terror this short film boughs to no one.

During the Holiday season, starting Andy Garcia and Uma Thurman This seems to be one of those love it or hate it movies. Roger Ebert hated it which means I would probably like it. Although serial killer movies are generally not my thing. EDIT: However Uma Thurman and Andy Garcia together sounds interesting.

Silent Night, Bloody Night 1972 Not to be confused with the Silent Night Deadly Night franchise. Low budget slasher but still fairly well done. Complex mystery plot but all the clues are there and it all gets tied together. Moderate amount of blood but this is more about why the killings rather than the killings themselves. Decent body count. Some spooky flashbacks done in sepia. John Carradine does an eccentric supporting role, his specialty in later years. Free on tubi, YT and ... wait for it ... Wikipedia! Never copyrighted, the movie is public domain and the Wiki article has a link to the complete movie. An early example of the Sex = Death slasher movie meme.

Of course there is a Christmas-themed ghost story movie that has nothing to do with Dickens! I don’t know why it took so long to think of it.
Curse of the Cat People 1944
This sequel to the very creepy (sorry) Cat People of 1942 is only vaguely related to the first movie. The curse of becoming a killer black panther when emotionally aroused is what afflicted the woman in Cat People. But she died at the end of that movie. Well, guess what? She is back as a ghost and is relieved of the curse. Much nicer now, she becomes the not-so-imaginary friend of her husband’s very young daughter, the only one who can see her.
The threat to the young girl comes from a very disturbed human and her salvation is supernaturally arranged. No blood or violence. Other than that human threat, the biggest scare is the snowstorm. But there is a lot more genuine Christmas spirit (oops, another pun) than one would expect to find in a movie with a title like this one.
Although it bombed when first released – mainly because of the studio mandated misleading title and ad campaign - it is of sufficient merit and has enough of a following that you have to pay to see it online.

The Mothman Prophecies (2002) I did not 'get it' the first time around, but it was intriguing enough to watch it twice. Nicely put together.

A Simple Plan (1999)
Three guys find a bag of money, in a plane that crashed in the woods.
Things go horribly wrong. Criminally underrated thriller IMHO.

Deadly Games 1989
Before Home Alone there was this Christmas Eve tale of an unwelcome murderous intruder - dressed as Santa Claus no less! - and how the young boy handled him. Make no mistake, this is no cute Macaulay Culkin vehicle. This is a horror story.
French with English subtitles. Available on Shudder.

Never Talk To Strangers (1995) Trashy erotic thriller, a guilty pleasure of mine. Most of Raimi's directorial stuff is horror / sci-fi genre. I was happy to see he could do 'straight' movies that well. Sam's brother Ted sometimes showed up in Sam's stuff. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gIGk9PATvsI understand that Rebecca De Mornay does a sex scene in Never Talk To Strangers, worth watching?
