Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
New on Netflix. Decent from the gore standpoint but they essentially just made a generic slasher movie where the killer uses a chainsaw. None of the claustrophobic terror of the original.
Ripper Untold (2021)
I saw the DVD for cheap in Walmart. I like Jack the Ripper stuff but wasn't going to blind-buy it. Was happy when I got home and saw it was on Tubi.
Pretty low-budget. Filmed like a stage play - only about eight actors and it all takes place in four or five interior sets. Pretty much all conversation between the inspector and coroner, with a handful of other characters thrown in. Not horribly done, if slow. I would've liked it better if they'd actually gotten more of the details of actual crimes correct. And I'd like to have a word with the sound editor who has a love affair with the sound of bells constantly tolling in the background.
Babysitter Must Die (2020)
Listed on IMDb as Josie Jane: Kill the Babysitter.
I watched it on Prime. Also available free on Tubi.
A trio of brutal cultists takes a family hostage while looking for something in their house, with the intent on sacrificing the family when they find it. But they didn't count on the babysitter, who uses all the skills she's learned from ten years of summer camps to fight back.
I thought it was fun.
The 355 (2022)
Streaming on Peacock. A group of international secret agents comes together to recover one of those "internet skeleton key" devices that are so popular - the ones that can hack anything and cause global haywire.
Stars a handful of favorite actresses - Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong'o, Penélope Cruz, and Diane Kruger, who all get to strut their action star moves in various shoot-outs and fight scenes. I like movies like this and I liked this one.

The King's Man (2021)
The third in Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman series, this time going back to the beginning and intertwining the origin of the Kingsman with the real people and events from World War I. Very good, tho a little more serious than the first two (given the time/setting I think that's probably appropriate).
On HBOMax and Hulu.
The Slumber Party Massacre (1982)
I've heard good things about the recent remake, but until it's showing on something that won't cost me extra I decided to go back to the original 'classic.' Probably haven't seen it since the 80s anyway. Typical 80s slasher with an escaped psycho dropping in on a slumber party. One of scream queen Brinke Steven's first roles.
Slumber Party Massacre II (1987)
Sequel involving the younger sister character from the first movie encountering her own Driller Killer. Weird flick. Stars Crystal Bernard who is probably best known for the TV sitcom Wings. Playboy Playmate Kimberly McArthur also appears, which I mention only because I saw her at a car show back before this movie came out.
These were on Tubi. Need to track down the third one, I guess, but I haven't run across it yet.

The Protégé (2021)
Another "women kicking butt" movie as I like. Maggie Q stars as Anna, a woman rescued as a child by a hitman (Samuel L. Jackson) who teaches her the trade and becomes her partner. When he's killed, she uses all her skills to track down those responsible. Michael Keaton and Robert Patrick also star.
Really liked this one. Now available on Amazon Prime.
Scream (2022)
I went ahead and ponied up a couple of bucks to rent this online. Woodsboro continues to compete with places like Crystal Lake, Haddonfield, and Springwood, for the highest mortality rate amongst young adults. Another Ghostface is on the prowl picking off a group of friends who all have some connection to the past gory events in their town. Scream vets David Arquette, Courteney Cox, and of course Neve Campbell (along with a couple of others and apparently a lot of voice cameos from even more) to solve the mystery of this latest killer.
Really liked this one, too.
Despite a bad-looking preview and worse reviews, I finally took a shot at I Spit on Your Grave: Deja Vu (2019), which sees the return of Camille Keaton as Jennifer Hills. I made it about half an hour. Bad on pretty much every level, there was no way I was going to last for the entire TWO AND A HALF HOUR runtime.
And a quick shopping note; my local Dollar Tree got in some more DVDs, which included a 6-movie set called "Vampire Werewolf Dark Moon Collection." The werewolf movies in the set are Moon of the Wolf, Werewolf of Washington, and Werewolf in a Girl's Dormitory. That last one I don't have a copy of yet so I went ahead and picked it up. Probably should've tried it instead of that Grave-Spitting flick.

Work and other assorted problems have cut way into my already limited time lately.
Have watched some stuff...
The Adam Project (2022)
The latest Ryan Reynolds/Netflix movie. Well done, enjoyable effort with a great cast - Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldana, and Mark Ruffalo also appear.
The Howling (1981)
Shouldn't need an introduction here. I picked up the recent 4K edition (but watched the Blu since I'm not 4K capable - I just needed yet another copy of this one)
The Sword and the Sorcerer (1982)
Also picked up the new 4K of this one. Whenever I watch it I'm surprised all over again by how many actors I know are in it. Nearly everyone is a "Hey, I've seen them before!" type. Still a fun fantasy flick.
Black Crab (2022)
Another Netflix movie. I like Noomi Rapace so I had to check it out. She's part of a strike team sent on a secret mission across a frozen sea during some vague post-apocalypse/war sort of scenario. A little slow but some good bits.
Massacre in Dinosaur Valley (1985)
Thought it was some Italian cannibal movie, but they threw it all in this one. Our hapless plane wreck survivors face off against leeches, piranha, waterfalls, the aforementioned cannibals, quicksand...most everything you could think of to put in there. Except for actual dinosaurs. That was a disappointment. On Tubi, with a nice-quality print.
Blade Runner: Black Lotus (2021- )
Animated show available on HBOMax. Takes place after the original movie but before Blade Runner: 2049 and tie in to that film. Not bad.

Humanoids From the Deep (1980) Ah, a true classic. If I weren't trying to limit my "re-runs" I'd watch it again.

The Night House (2020)
Now on HBOMax. Rebecca Hall (possibly best known as the secondary baddie in Iron Man 3 since studio higher-ups reportedly didn't think a female head villain would sell toys) stars as a woman who starts to have strange experiences after her husband's death. Decent enough.
Anaconda (1997)
I've been seeing the various 'Anaconda' flicks pop up on streaming so decided to revisit the original. Forgot it had a reasonably star-studded cast - nearly everyone is at least recognizable if not a household name. And voice-acting legend Frank Welker voiced the titular anaconda. Fun flick with decent animatronics and somewhat dodgy CGI snakes.
