Saw the trailer on Wednesday when i went to the pictures to see Sherlock Holmes. It was different to the other ones that i've seen but still looked brilliant! My Mum was with me and was as up for the movie as i was. My local cineworld are also sporting a hug poster hanging from the ceiling which shows Emily Brunt's character hiding behind the trees with the wolf man in site in the back ground. Not my favourite of the posters on offer for this movie but definately adds to the atmosphere and excitment this film is generating!

I like all of the posters generated for this film. I agree with you, the Emily Blunt poster really sets a tense mood for the movie... which is a good thing.

I normally dont comment on these hot boards, but i figured I chime in just to say I got the idea to wear my werewolf mask to the movie. Who's with me!

That could be a fun thing to do moonreaper. Just don't scare the people in front of you.
After watching one of the trailers, I have a strong feeling as to who the werewolf is that bites our antagonist. I don't want to say my guess just incase it's right and would end up being a spoiler for people. So, what I'm actually asking is if anyone else after watching the trailers got a similar feeling as to an identification?

Rotten Tomatoes doesn't think much of it, but they don't think much of any Werewolf movies for the most part.

My friend told me that The Kansas City Star gave it two stars out of four. I haven't read any reviews (because I don't want them to influence my appreciation of the film), so I don't have any idea what these reviewers are looking for.
I will likely not see the movie until it hits the $2.00 theaters. I'm cheap. And saving.

A little disappointing, but still liked it in a way. That damn CG will be the death of me (or horror for that matter). Its like they spent all their money on big name people; Del Toro, Hopkins, Joe Johnston, Rick Baker, Danny Elfmann, ect., then ran out of money in the making of it. A CG bear and caribou I mean come on, and the transformation was a little weak although I expected that. 6/10 I guess, have to wait till the DVD to watch commentary.

I suspect the CG was more expensive than using real animals, but infinitely more controllable. That's the only reason I can think of for not using the real thing.

I think it would cost about the same. Its not like they were very intricate animal scenes and CG is getting easier to do. You can either hire a trainer with animals or hire someone to do it at a computer.

Scored this sweet movie poster when I went to see Wolfman in the theater. Great film, I'm sure many will enjoy the story. Visually stunning cinamatography. Satisfying update to the 1941 film. Worth seeing on the "big screen." Benicio may be a better Lon Chaney Jr than Lon Chaney Jr. Attachments:

Despite what some sniffy reviewers will tell you I thought The Wolfman was a fine slice of gothic monster movie mayhem. I enjoyed it a lot.
Okay, so it's far from a perfect film - you can see the joins where scripts have been cut and pasted together and chunks sliced out - but I did have a howling good time with its camp, gory goofiness. I loved the look of the film with the design and photography being wonderfully gothic and moody and the Rick Baker make-up as excellent as expected. The acting ranged from okay with Del Toro a bit dull when human but great when hairy, to very entertaining in Hugo Weaving, to the 'I don't care cuz she's lovely' Emily Blunt. Hopkins is okay as daddy Talbot but seems to be a teensy bit bored by it all. But at least he isn’t overacting. A special shout out to Hugo Weaving as Inspector Abberline who once again reminds us just why he’s such a cool actor. His scene in the pub where he orders a beer and patiently explains to the landlady why he isn’t out hunting the killer is hilarious. Definitely channelling Agent Smith there. Apart from Agent Smith and its overall look, the best stuff in the film was the wolfman's rampages - especially the first one in the gypsy camp. That was a truly great sequence where the beast is so fast and mostly in shadow and yet causes so much bloody mayhem.
My only real criticism of the film was the use of CGI. The CGI transformation looks exactly how you’d expect a CGI one to look – it looks fake and cartoony. Some people will defend this. I won’t. I just don’t like it. Period. It looks exactly like what it is – computer graphics. Still, could have been worse, could have been Van Helsing. Ugh! And why oh why they did a CGI bear and stag is beyond me. But once Del Toro is in full on wolf mode then the CGI (mostly) goes and you get great Baker make-up and some nicely savage gore.
So, yeah, I enjoyed The Wolfman a great deal. It’s a fun ride with a few nice jump scares and a great gloomy gothic look. It zips along while enjoying revelling in its gory monster mayhem. It’s not perfect and is not the classic that the original is or comes anywhere near challenging the best werewolf movies for genre supremacy. But for a fun, bloody, gothic romp you could do a whole lot worse.

I enjoyed it as well, but was a little disapointed. I agree that the only thing that really flawed the film for me was the use a CG, I expected better from Baker. Ill be curious to watch the commentary on this one. I did, however, love Hopkins he has yet to let me down.

Hey! Don't blame Baker for the CGI. He didn't want it used any more than the rest of us did.
