On my list of prospective watches. Jamie Lee saves the movie, IMO.

While You Were Sleeping (1995)
Not a horror movie of course, but a strong candidate for the best screwball romantic comedy of all times. And it does center around Christmas and New Year's. Bears unlimited re-watches. Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman totally shine as the leads with a great big name supporting cast. The sequence where Jack (Pullman) questions Lucy (Bullock) about whether Peter (in a coma) is really her fiance is utterly hilarious. Lucy, not actually Peter's fiance but forced into that masquerade, has all the answers courtesy of strange coincidences. But then she comes up with info about Peter that no one in Peter's family knows and it is genuinely laugh out loud time.

A Creepshow Holiday Special: Shapeshifters Anonymous A werewolf discovers that Santa Claus is not anything like he thought. Plenty of horror, including a variety of were- things, mixed with very strange humor. A true holi horror-day delight.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)
I'm not sure why but sometime last week I decided I'd take the three-day weekend and watch the latest STAR WARS trilogy. This was the easy part, as I actually liked most of this one despite it sticking a bit closer to the original than I would've liked. Then again, so do a lot of the other STAR WARS stories out there - a new force user, a new giant engine of doom to destroy, etc.
Plus, this time I got to watch it in 3D.
The Wilds (2020- )
Not a movie, but I finished off this series on Amazon Prime. A random group of teenage girls headed to a weekend in Hawaii find themselves stranded on a deserted island after their plane goes down. More than just a survival show, by the end of the first episode it's clear that the group isn't all that random and the crash was no accident. Yes, this puts it somewhere close to the LOST neighborhood but no polar bears or smoke monsters.
Luckily, a second season is apparently on the way.
And new seasons of Cobra Kai and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina are up on Netflix so I'm covered for a little while (when I'm not playing Cyberpunk 2077).

Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Well...I still think it had a few interesting ideas. Still not particularly thrilled with how it came out. And still think the trilogy as a whole comes off as a clumsy fanfic round-robin story with the second and third chapters each going back and saying "Nuh-uh, that's not what happened" to the chapter before.
Gretel & Hansel (2020)
A stylish and moody retelling of the familiar tale, with Sophia Lillis (from the recent IT films, as well as I Am Not Okay With This on Netflix - and I'm still not okay with that only getting one season) as Gretel.

Dumb movie day. Track of the Moon Beast (1976) I had seen this before so I had no excuse. Man gets hit in head with meteorite, turns into were-lizard at full moon. Gets killed by arrows with moon rock arrowheads in cheap 1970s psychedelic sequence. Mesa of Lost Women (1953) Mad scientist makes giant spiders so he can make superwomen with spider venom So how come they become midgets? Were they munchkin spiders? If it were intended to be a comedy, it might be OK. As is... Attack of the Giant Leeches (1959) Really sucks. And I mean really. Especially those silly leech costumes. The Leech Woman (1960) On Svengoolie. After it started I remembered seeing this in the movies about 60 years ago. It was a double bill with Brides of Dracula. Saw it with the short blonde whose name escapes me. The pineal gland of a man together with some special stuff from Africa can make you young again for a while. Of course you have to kill the guy to get it. And when it wears off you are older than ever and the next time it wears off quicker. Not great but probably the best of today's harvest. Sven had a field day with this one. One joke out of many - a leeched blonde
